Jan 2010 Update
Jan 08, 2010
Wow, its been a while. Sorry no new pics yet but life contiues to be an adventure. Summer 09, after having and recovering from hip surgery in March 09, I got back to jogging and started training to be a HS league football official.Besides the study and classes, the post-op jogging paid off. I was one of the older rookies but as mobile as any of them. I had such a great time learning and working games with the other officials and being on the field at games, I decided in October 09 to look into doing HS basketball too. They started their training in Aug but let me come in late. I passed the test and did well enough to become a rookie official this year. Again, the weight loss and jogging I did has paid big dividends in being able to get up and down the court efficiently. I even had one scrimmage day where I did 5 games back-to-back. That helped the old ego to have the staminia to stay on the floor that long (1:00-6:00 p.m.) and not have any problem doing the job.
My weight is still in the 250-260 range and waist at a 44. I have had a man-toman honest inventory with myself to fess up what I was eating and the frequency and need to get back to some basics. I remain determined to get back in the 200-220 range, since 224 was as low as I got post-op and my (personal) goal was 200 and a 36 waist. Even at 224 I only got to a 40 waist and quickly leveled off at 234 and a 42 waist.
The personal battle continues but I am loving my second lease on life. My youngest got her learner-permit in December and getting the opportunity to teach her to drive was one of my wanna-do-before I die goals afforded me with my successful results from RNY WLS.
