March 2012, I'm still here

Mar 15, 2012

Well, I have lost the weight, put some back on, but have since taken up golf regularly for 2 years, now it more of a past time.  Taken up officiating Football, then Basketball at the HS level. Left Basketball after 2 years, the because of scheduling conflicts with running for re-election to local City Council (with campaigning and such August through November being all on top of football season) gave up Football officiating after 3 fun years this year; elections are November 2012 and my first 4 year term on City Council is concluding.  I have been through a spur on my left hip and some arthritis that were both ground off laproscopically and have recently twisted or pulled something in my right knee, but walking and joggin are still an important part of staying active and healthy.  I have also driven cross country in 48 hrs to aid my oldest of 3 daughters in moving from VA to Utah in Jan 2012 to live and teach school,...and in April 2012, daughter 2 is transferring college from Utah State to BYU-Idaho.  She has been home in VA since deciding to change schools at the end of Fall semester and I am driving her out so she has her car, then flying back.   Daughter 3 is schedule to graduate HS this June and has already been accepted to BYU-Idaho in January 2013 so we get to make the trip, 1 more time.  Then  it will be empty-nest transition.  On the digestive side of things, magically ath et 5 year post-op mark, I could tolerate sweets and a little fattier food than the total intolerance previously. That lead to some weight gain as a little fudging became regular intake.  I endured to much and enjoy being thinner too much to derail myself.  I realize the pressure is  on mre to eat healthy and stay active as I should have learned over the last 5 years recovering from RNY.  The magic of the new smaller pouch is gone now and its is up to me to apply the healthy lifestyle nutrition and activty thay aided my recovery from obesity. However long I have life in this life, I want to be mobile and involved as long as I am allowed.  I am not forgetting or taking for granted this new lease and second chance at having an active and healthier life.

The plan still works as long as we work the plan,...and nothing tastes better than being thinner feels.
