Magic Pills
Mar 01, 2011
Today, I am SEVEN years postop and I weigh the same as I did at nine months postop! What??? Did this surgery really work? Can it work? Pinch me! Am I perfect? No. Do I continue to do EVERYTHING I was taught? No. Do I try to do most things some of the time? Yes. But I do take my vitamins. Didn't we all want a magic pill to make our fat go away? Well? Didn't we? What do you think our vitamins are? Take them, stupid! That's what I tell myself every day. I at least have a fighting chance if I am healthy. I know of other postops who quit taking the magic pills. It DOES catch up with us. The body KNOWS when it has been cheated.Other character defects of mine I discovered that hit my recovery at every turn were:
I was a compulsive food addict. So I saw an eating disorder shrink starting at 4 months postop.
I cross addicted to alcohol at 18 months post op and I joined AA and have 4+ years sobriety today.
I still eat lean protein at every meal and eat it first.
I try to eat dense foods and avoid soft foods to feel full. Soft foods=weight gain
Don't drink at meal time
But most important.....take the damn MAGIC PILLS!
