Today is April 28, 2009, and I'm finally getting close to having my surgery. I waited the year after having my stents put in my heart, then, Medicare started making patients do the 6 month Dr supervised weight loss. So, I have completed that and have seen Dr. Provost again in February. Dr. Provost moved his practice to Denton instead of Dallas, and the hospital in Denton doesn't have the Center of Excellence certification that Medicare requires yet. So, I'm playing the waiting game again. The hospital has applied for the certification, but as of today they still don't have it. I'm going to call the hospital tomorrow and ask them how much longer they think it will be, but the doctor's office doesn't know. So, that's where everything stands. I just know I'm ready to get this done and move on with my new life.

Life has a way of throwing you for a loop and it sure has done that to me. The PET Scan was abnormal, so I had to have a heart cath and 2 stents placed in my right coronary artery. Dr Rivera told me it will be at least a year before I can have the lap-band now, so I'm in limbo for a while. I'm really depressed today and teary, but I can't seem to get a grip on this even though I'm seeing Shelley. I am hoping getting to see Dr Carson will help. If it doesn't, I have no idea what I am going to do next. I am trying to look at the positive things in my life like Shelley told me to, but I just don't get why I'm so forgettable to men.

I started my lap-band journey in October 2006 after I found out Medicare would pay for the surgery, I worked with a woman about 15 years ago who had the lap-band done in Houston, Tx, long before it was approved by the FDA. She was extremely successful with her weight loss and I told her way back then that I would like to have the surgery done someday.
I did a lot of research and found Dr. David Provost in Dallas, TX. I had my initial consultation with him on January5, 2007. I loved Dr. Provost, but I have no idea when I will have my surgery. He said he would need clearance from my cardiologist before he would do surgery. I am not a very patient person about this type of thing, so I'm very anxious to have my surgery and get on the losing side of life! I have an appointment with Dr. Rivera, my cardiologist, on February 2, 2007 to have another CT Scan and a PET Scan before he will clear me. I'm not sure what to do next, but have put out some feelers to my friends on here for advice.
