Over a Year Now!

Mar 27, 2008

Wow, Time flies!  Things have been so busy and I've been enjoying by new body so much, that I've not been around much.  It's amazing to fit into new clothes, airplane seats, and be able to enjoy new activities that my previously plump self couldn't.  My husband and I just purchased our first home a few weeks ago and moved in over this past Easter weekend.  My weight loss has slowed majorly, but I'm still dropping a pound here and there.  The main thing is that I just feel so much better.  And that's the point right!  Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Merry Christmas!

Dec 22, 2007

Well here I am just past my 10 month point and am doing well.  I am down from 295 starting weight, to 179 today.  Very excited about this journey this lst year.  But it doesn't stop here, it just changed a bit.  Now the work out gym will be my best friend until I get things rearranged and properly proportioned for now.  Should be an interesting new year and I'm looking forward to seeing what the doctor has to say in February when I see him for my one year post op visit.

6 month Doc Appt!

Aug 20, 2007

Went to the doc today for my 6 month post op check and their jaws kinda hit the ground.  Both the nurse and the doc were so surprised at how well I am doing.  It is really cool to have them excited about my progress and it gives me so much more determination!

6 months out!

Aug 16, 2007

Hey everybody.  Isn't it amazing how things can change so much in such a short time.  I have lost 90 pounds in 6 months.  Oh my gosh.  It just amazes me to no end.  Things are going really well.  Feel so much better and am starting to pick up the excersize to the next step.  The cookbook is complete and I have actually printed out hard copies of it.  Thinking about selling them as I have many more recipes now included in it and it's pretty cool.  Life is good and I can't wait for that cruise in November and the day that I hit that 100 pound lost mark!

4 months!

Jun 22, 2007

Hey all!  Seems like forever since I was in the hospital recovering.  Doing good now.  The past month has seen a little trouble and I've had an endoscopy where they stretched my stomach opening just a bit.  Feeling better now.  Went to the dietician on Monday and did my check in.  I'm ahead of the game with my weight loss.  They finally gave me a number as to how much they expected me to probably lose in the first year and that's about 100 pounds.  I'm well on my way only 4 months post op so I think I'll make it if I just keep up all the hard work.  It's not easy, but I'm getting there.  Hoping to post some new pics soon.  Going to California with mom and dad next week so maybe I can get a pic with Mickey at Disney!

Three Months!

May 13, 2007

Amazing to think it's been three months since my surgery.  Things have gone pretty good until the last couple weeks now.  I've been having some stomach pain and cannot eat as much food now, a few bites fill me.  Amount is much less than I had been doing through my progression.  Just an overall very weird thing.  We went to the doctor on Friday and he wants to do an endoscopy next week.  I'm so not thrilled, but it could be worse.  He thinks maybe I have stenosis.  Guess we'll find out soon enough.  I have really dropped the weight and have a whole tub of clothes that don't fit anymore.  Lots and lots of clothes that are too big, so it's great.  Not much else going on, I've just been keeping really busy.

One Month Post

Mar 15, 2007

Well, I've made it a month.  Hard to believe!  Things are going ok and I'm not having to many issues.  Have a little infection in one of my incisions and am on antibiotics again, but generally feeling ok.  Still of course on pureed food.  So far my favorite is cottage cheese.  Been back to work almost two weeks now and doing fine with it.  Today I'm a little tired and stomach is very unsettled, but I was sick last night from something.  Not sure what.  Trying to keep really busy and walking every day.  The weather is starting to turn nice here so getting outside has been absolutely wonderful.  Walking at the gym can be so boring.  Just gonna keep at it.  So far, from my highest weight at the beginning of January, I'm down 40 pounds.  Yea!

2 week appt. down!

Mar 01, 2007

Well, went to the doctor on Wednesday to meet the nurse for a check-in.  We are an hour away so we got there a little early and while we were sitting in the waiting room, the nurse called in to work and said she wouldn't be in today.  I was so mad.  The front desk nurse was really nice but said she couldn't get me in until 2pm and that it would be with the actual doctor.  That was fine with me, except we had to kill hours.  Plus it sucked because my mom had taken off work for it and now had to take the whole day.  We found the mall and an 80% off clearance section at Macy's so it wasn't too bad.  Also found a sale at Lane Bryant.  We went back and were there at quarter to two.  At 2:25 I went back to the desk to see what was going on.  They paged the doc and he said he was in surgery until at least 3.  That's when all the built up emotions from stress and exhaustion came out and I just started crying and was so mad.  The poor nurses.  They said I was fine and let me go into a room to wait so i didn't have to wait in a packed waiting room.  I got some water and calmed down but it really sucked.  they were so kind and kept checking on us to see if we needed anything.  The doctor came in at 3:00 and my check up was 5 minutes.  All that time for 5 minutes.  But he said I am doing fine, can drive, work, go to pureed foods, start working out, etc.  The day was a long one but we accomplished what we needed to I guess.  I have to go back on Monday afternoon to see the nurse and NUT and am hoping that they are on time!

Complications, but I'm home AGAIN!

Feb 21, 2007

I just got home from the hospital this afternoon for the second time.  I had some chest pains on Monday afternoon and the doctor wanted me to come to the emergency room.  I did and they were rushing around like crazy.  Ran a CT and that's when the hours of waiting began.  Finally the doctor came in and said the CT showed a spot in my chest that could possibly be a blood clot.  He admitted me until at least the next morning so that he could have the radiologist look at it.  Needless to say I didn't sleep much that night.  I was on strict bedrest too.  Finally Tuesday am came, they drew some blood and the doc finally came in and told me that it was NOT a blood clot.  Thank you God.  However the blood they drew showed that my potassium level was down so I spent the rest of Tuesday getting IVs of potassium.  The chest pain and pain in my right side hadn't give up though so he kept me another night and switched my pain meds to oxycotin.  Serious stuff.  It is working a little bit better, but not much.  I'm only gonna take if for a little while and then I'll be back to vicodin.  Oh, and as a precaution, I have to give myself blood thinner injections every day for a week.  They did take my drain out today though, a day early, but it saves me from having to drive down tomorrow morning just to have a nurse pull it out.  Well, that's my saga story.  Tomorrow will be a week and I'm doing ok finally.  Hit a few unexpected speed bumps and it was a little scary there for awhile, but they took excellent care of me and I'm gonna be ok.  I've dropped a few pounds since surgery, but the swelling and bloating is just now starting to go away so it will probably increase.  Either way, I'm just happy to be through the last week.

Surgery is over! I'm home!

Feb 21, 2007

Well, I'm home from surgery and that whole experience was very unfun!  The procedure stayed as a laproscopic and took just under 4 hours.  Doctor said there were no complications and everything was fine.  When I woke up the pain was terrible and stayed that way the whole two hours I was in recovery.  They finally got a clue and switched my meds over to Demerol.  That seemed to help and I got up to my room.  I had the best nurses and care.  The time kinda seemed to fly by like a dream or something.  It just seems kinda weird looking back at it now.  I don't know, but I'm just happy I'm through it!  Now on to my first week!
