My weight loss journey began in Feb. of 2007.  I had wanted to have WLS for about 5years, but my insurance would not pay for it at that time.  So I joined First Place a christian weight loss support group.  I was successful for about three years and then my weight loss was up and down for the next 2 years, but mostly up.  By Jan of 2007 my weight was 206#, I am only 5'2" tall and had other health issues. I had high blood pressure, sleep apnea, acid reflux disease, joint pain, and my BMI was37.5.  By this time I had changed jobs and with my FP weight loss history, medical history, and letter from my primary doc. I Was able to get approval fairly quickly.  I went to a WLS syminar in Billings, MT put on by SV Hospital, signed up for the program and had my first appointment in March and had seen the psychiatrist, nutritionist, fitness trainer and had all my tests done by the end of March.  Saw the surgeon middle of April and they would have scheduled my surgery for the end of the month, but my work schedule was not so flexiable.  So May 21 was the first day of my new life.  Surgery went really well and I left the hospital on May 23.  I have had to go back twice to have a stricture stretched, but I'm feeling great.  My weight loss to date -194 day of surgery and last week I was 163.  I have lost a total of 43# which seems slow compared to others, but then my start weight was lower than some.  I have already been able to go off one of my blood pressure meds and I'm hoping to go off the others soon.  I praise the Lord for making all phases of my journey so easy and I know that with his HIS continued support I will be successful in over coming my weight problems.  Good luck to all who read this!

Well I received an update invitation on Saturday and my 4 year anniversary and decided I would get on and update.  Well I am once again on a diet after gaining 32 lbs back.  I am doing Ideal Protein and hope to have my weight off in the neck couple of months!  I'm off to a good start losing 7lbs and 7in. in less than a week.  I feel really good on this diet and I know my attitude is way better.  I know my bypass was still a successful tool because I could only eat a certain amount before I was full, but got pulled back into the old carb routine.  So for all of you newby's out there remember it is just that a tool and you will have to work the rest of your life to keep the weight .   I feel I am back on the right track now!  Good Luck Everyone!
