I finally dropped Kaiser!

After 2 years of waiting I was finally able to switch my health insurance to Blue Shield Access+ HMO. I will never, ever, ever, EVER go back to Kaiser. My new insurance became effective January 1st, and oddly enough happened during one of the worst respiratory illnesses I've ever had. During the first 20 days of my illness Kaiser did absolutely NOTHING- except write me a doctors note for work insisting that I was only battling a cold. Hmph! I've been with Blue Shield only 12 days now and they've done so much. I've had 2 doctors appointments, been given a new nebulizer (which Kaiser wouldn't do), have had a complete blood panel and allergy testing done, and my dr is working on getting a new sleep study arranged for me and a new CPAP machine. The machine I currently have has had issues... but again, Kaiser doesn't give a shyt. As for being sick it turns out I wasn't suffering from severe allergies or a cold after all. I had a respiratory infection. After 3 days of antibiotics I'm starting to feel better for the first time in weeks.

So, surgery surgery. What about the surgery? I am so ready for this surgery. Seriously. My weight has ruined my life. I've alienated myself from everyone because of my lack of confidence and energy. It's pathetic. I could care less about the baggy skin and wrinkles- I just want my stamina back. I'm not sure what Blue Shield is going to make me do- but I know for sure it will mean I have to quit smoking- like, yesterday. I'm not even worried about losing weight or going on a diet pre-op. I'm worried I won't be able to give up cigarettes!

I never thought I'd be addicted to cigarettes.

I have no clue what to do about that. There are so many options I don't know where to start. I don't smoke much. 5-6 a day, so I think I am more addicted to the motion of smoking than the actual nicotine. I don't think I need patches or gum- I actually think they'd be too strong... So I might have to go this cold turkey. Wish we luck!
