Hello! My name is Robin, I am 45 yrs old, 5'9 1/2" and currently weigh 287 pounds. I live in south central Pennsylvania, in a town named Enola, outside of Harrisburg. My husband (DaveD17025)and I have been giving bariatric surgery consideration for quite some time. We met with our family doctor recently and discussed his feelings on it and received a complimentary response from him. Upon his recommendation we contacted the Weight Loss Clinic in Harrisburg and last Friday we were in for our first consultation, insurance assessment, etc. We were very happy to hear that our insurance does not have pre-requisites and based on the office's previous experiences with this company have been told that they are timely in their communications with the clinic. (whew!) We received our list of thirteen steps that we will be going through prior to the surgery and are currently finishing up our four day eating diary this evening. We will be faxing that in to the clinic tonight once we are finished with it. That will complete step two for us. It will be nice to be able to have my husband share this experience with me and we plan on having our surgeries hopefully about a month apart from the other one. I am looking forward to sharing the experience with others. While excited about the changes about to take place in my life, I have to also admit to being somewhat apprehensive as to how the news will be received by others. To date we have not shared this decision with any family members and only one friend. I would love to hear about the experiences that others have had and any suggestions that you may have for me regarding this. Looking forward to learning more, sharing and growing! (well....maybe "growing" isn't a good word....lol!) Let's make that learning, sharing and shrinking!
