Brigham and Women's Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery

"My pre-admitting appointment and testing was very pleasant and efficient. The pre-op lounge was great...lots of comfy couches and even internet access. The PACU staff were just awesome- couldn't be nicer. When I got to the floor though it was incredibly noisy. I had a roomate who needed a lot of help and wasn't seeming to get it so we were both awake all night. It seemed the floor might have been understaffed. The next day I was given my UGI very quickly and painlessly and then was on my way home! "

Ashley Vernon

"Dr. Vernon was my choice of surgeon because I work at BWH and kept meeting one happy lapband patient after another. She seems to be the \"favorite\" among the OR staff and well, they would know! I needed my gallbladder out as well and being banded depended on its being successfully removed without any chance of infection. I was very glad that I had a highly skilled surgeon who was able to do both surgeries at once. Everywhere I went in the hospital other employees- nurse, anesthesiologists-all seemed to offer the same opinion: that she is a meticulous surgeon as well as a nice person. She has a fabulous, efficient, funny secretary as well, Jane, and it seems that she and Dr. Vernon work very well together. Two nutritionists are easy to reach with questions as are the PAs. I've been very happy with everything except for the longish times sitting in the waiting room which seems to come with the territory at big teaching hospitals. "
