I had a great experience in Mexico with Dr. Juan Antoniono Lopez-Corvala and his staff. They check on you several times a day and are genuinely concerned. They are also very reassuring and patient with answering questions. They realize that it is a new experience from my perspective although an old one from theirs! I appreciate their ability to see it through my eyes. rnrnI did not research doctors or price before I went but now that I have researched it more fully, I realize I lucked out to have decided on him in the first place.rnrnI found the aftercare program to be quite lacking. They are available for questions but staff seem to only answer them briefly. I found the obesityhelp.com message board so I dont' really need aftercare any more!rnrnI was particularly impressed with them letting me stay an extra night in the hospital because I didn't feel well enough to go to a hotel yet. And no extra charge! I am also particularly impressed with how quickly I healed and that I had ZERO complications.
The surgeon in Anchorage would not take me as a patient although my insurance said it would pay so I decided on Mexico. I found the doctor very compitent and the hospital very modern and clean. He is very professional as well as the staff. The only thing is I have to have my fills done in Wasilla,Alaska because of the travel cost. I would rather be able to go back to TJ to have it done.
Dr. Corvala is very compassionate and seemed to truly care about his patient's emotional well being as well as their physical. His staff was great and the facility was too. Even after I arrived back home I received several emails from my patient facilitator and his staff making sure I was doing ok. I would not hesitate to refer anyone to him and his staff. I only wish I could go back for my fills just to keep in touch with them.
I felt very confident in the choice I had made for my surgeon. I did not get a chance to meet him until right before my surgery. But he assured me everything would be just fine. It was. I am 3 days post op. I had thought I would go back to work today but I am still feeling a little sore and thought another days rest would be better. I would recommend Dr. Corvala. The experience was remarkable. The only thing that was a little of a problem was the language barrier. But really I was taken care of very well. I speak a little spanish and was able to get by.
Dr. Corvala and his staff were wonderful. He and his staff provided all the information I needed to make an informed decisiion about having the surgery in Tijuana. I was very surprise as to how quickly the staff conducted the pre-op tests and surgery prep. rnrnI must say that my family was a little troubled about me going to Mexico for surgery but they didn't have to worry because the care that I received was excellent.rnrnThe only negative thing that I experienced was the language barrier with some of hospital staff, but to combat that I took my daughter with me and she translated for me.rnrnSo, my advice to anyone considering surgery in Mexico is to learn to speak spanish or take someone with you that does.rnrnrnrn
