Dr. Fallon, surgically, was an OK surgeon. But as it turned out, I am HIGHLY ALLERGIC to Vancomiacin and had a reaction that shut down my kidneys & put me on respirator for 4 days. Dr. Fallon was totally MIA......he didn't explain anything to me or my parents. He left several of his nasty med students to explain things & do procedures. I had never even met any of these students, yet I didn't even know who they were. And then, after all of my hospital care was over & my weight loss slowed some.....he called me a failure & complete waste of his time. Well, my surgery was in August of 2002 and weighed in at 293 lbs. Now, 19 years later, I weigh 146lbs. Am I a supermodel...no. But my life is MUCH better & healthier.......but it was friends that helped me finish my journey........NOT DR. FALLAON!!!

My initial impression of Dr.Fallon was far below par. He had no bedside manor, or did he seem to have a sense of humor. But, as time went on..and the closer I got to my surgery date he was more than helpful and he became quite a friend. Future patients should just give him a chance, because he is a very qualified surgeon, and a very busy man. But I wouldnt want anyone else to be elbows deep in my guts.

Dr. William Fallon is fantastic! He answered all my question in a manner that I could relate to. I had been on consultations with other Drs about the rny surgery and none compared to Dr fallon. he told me all the risk some that I had not even concidered or read in my reserch. He went into detail of what my surgery would be. He was freindly yet professional. His credentials are outstanding. He is director of trauma, critical care, burns and metro life flight at Metrohealth Medical center in Cleavland Ohio. The only problem I had with Dr Fallons office was that I begun with them just as their office was changing office administration. They have made the transition and now things are running smoothly.

5/23/03 I am a little more than a month out and I have lost 35 lbs. Dr Fallon has been Fantastic!!! I didnt have one complication (knock on wood) My incission scar healed up great. He was a stickler about the NG tube though. For all those thinking about having surgery with Dr Fallon here is what I say to you. He is strict and his diet after surgery is a little tougher than the others..... but it is worth it! He is a skilled surgen and in my oppinion the BEST!

On my first visit I can honestly say I wasn't too impressed with his bedside manor. He is a very straight forward person, and I appreciate that he tells you like it is and doesn't sugar coat anything at all.
On my second visit he seemed to warm up , and seemed to really care about me the patient and what what going on.I trust Dr.Fallon, his credentials speak for themselves. His office staff now is a little chaotic, but that's only because Detra left.My suggestions to anyone seeing him for the first time, make sure you have all your questions written down, and do not expect him to make small talk, he doesn't, he's straight forward and to the point and then on to the next question. He will stress that you go to the support groups and follow up with the pyschologist. He never mentioned an aftercare program to me, but then again, I never asked either. He did inform me more than once of the risks involved, and rather bluntly I might add. Overall, I would say he is very good at what he does, and totally trust him to do my surgery. His surgical competence definitely makes up for his lack of bedside manor.

I just met Dr. Fallon today after an hour long drive in an ice storm. I was very nervous about the entire thing and he didn't help too much! My impression was that he is VERY straightforward. He gets right to the physical questions and really does not talk too much other than what he has to know. You BETTER have your questions written down and know exactly what kind of answer you want because it seemed he only answers exactly what you ask of him, with as little information as possible. Once I got past the inital impression, I did see that he is caring and that he said they would take good care of me. I asked if they had an aftercare program or support groups, and he mentioned they did have support groups, but said nothing of aftercare. He said the hospital stay would be 5-7 days and recovery about 6 weeks. Now comes the long wait for insurance.

A VERY I YOUR FACE DOC MAKING SURE ALL OUR QUESTIOS WHERE ANSWERD POST OP. AFTER THE SURGERY NOT A VERY GOOD BED SIDE MANNNER. HE DOESN'T LIKE YOU TO QUESTION HIS WAYS OF DOING THINGS. REFERS YOU TO A NUTRITIONIST THAT IS REALLY HELPFUL. HE DOES THINGS DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS AND I BELIEVE FOR THE BETTER. ASK ME IF U WANT TO KNOW MORE.

waiting for intital appt, but did got to a support group that he was aguest speaker at and I was impressed at his professional manner although I don`t think he has the greatest bedside manner - he seems to be honest and very good at what he does which is what I feel is most important.

he was very cordial, my impression did not change he stayed consistant. his staff seemed very dedicated to their position.i think the thing i liked least was lack of explanation of upcoming tests and their purpose. it was just a statement that 'i am having all these tests done' - by reading the websights i know what they are for but he did not reitterate that. (however in his defense i did tell him i read everything possible on this before making the appt. so he may have assumed i knew anyways) i am not into this far enough to know of an aftercare program although you bet your bootie after going through all this if they don't have a good one i will find a good one. he blatently said there are risks and people have died from this (blood clots /pulmonary embolism) i think that the way he said it is if i had any doubts i would be shocked to hear that but i was not and know and understand the risks. i would give him a good rating thus far however i met him once but he seems confident in his vocation and i would take that over sympathy any day.

I was impressed with his demeanor. He is down to earth and doesn't sugar-coat the procedure.

He is demanding of his patients, which I feel is good. Why waste his time and yours if you are not going to actively participate before and after surgery.

Dr. Fallon stresses that after surgery you will be gotten up to walk and you will keep on walking as part of rehab. This is a lifetime committment, a complete behavorial change/lifestyle change. It takes diet and exercise to complete the "program".

He also warns you of all complications during and after surgery.

This was just my first visit with him, but I rate him a 10!!
