Alejandro Gutierrez, MD, FACS isa highly-regarded, double board-certified bariatric surgeon caring for patients at the Mexico Bariatric Center® in Tijuana, Mexico. He is one of only nine bariatric surgeons in Tijuana with multiple board-certifications by both the Mexican Council of General Surgeons (CMCG) and the Mexico College of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgeons (CMCOEM).

Graduating at the top of his class, he earned his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Baja California. He completed his residency at the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), where he received specialized training in advanced laparoscopy and bariatric surgery. He went on to fellowship train for four years in Advanced Training in Bariatric Surgery at Hospital Angeles Tijuana.

Board-certified by the Mexican Council of General Surgeons (CMCG) and the Mexican College of Surgery for Obesity and Metabolic Diseases (CMCOEM). Dr. Gutierrez is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a member of the CMCOEM, the Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery (ACME), and the Mexican Council of General Surgery. He is a regular attendee of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders
Conferences (IFSO) and has been the recipient of numerous accreditations, certifications, and awards. He has been an educator at conferences and seminars on the topic of the perils of obesity and how bariatric surgery helps individuals fight the battle of morbid obesity.
