Dr. David Podkameni, Bariatric Surgeon David Podkameni, MD, FACS is a bariatric surgeon specializing in minimally invasive surgery. He is the Medical Director at Banner Gateway Bariatric Center located in Gilbert, Arizona. Dr. Podkameni is originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where he became board-certified in general and pediatric surgery. He earned his medical degree from Universidade Federal Fluminense, Brazil and completed residencies at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center of New York and The Mount Sinai Medical Center. He is Fellowship trained in Pediatric Surgery at Instituto Carlos Chagas and completed a clinical Fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Podkameni is a member of several distinguished societies including the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He has received many awards, grants and scholarships and has authored numerous publications, abstracts, and book chapters. Dr. Podkameni is very active in research projects and he has presented at conferences worldwide. In his spare time, Dr. Podkameni enjoys jogging with his wife, soccer and carpentry.
