Dr. Denis Halmi, Bariatric Surgeon Denis Halmi, MD, FACS, FASMBS is a nationally recognized bariatric surgeon and brings his expertise to patients of the DMHR Clinics in Woodbridge and Fredericksburg, Virginia. He earned his medical degree at Semmelweis Medical University in Budapest, Hungary and went on to complete his training in General Surgery at the Brooklyn-Downstate Medical Center. His residency was completed at The Brooklyn Hospital. Dr. Halmi received advanced training in the DaVinci Robotic Surgical System, Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, and a Masters Course in Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Halmi is known for his vast experience in performing minimally invasive revisional surgeries. He has contributed to many research papers on bariatric surgery. Additionally, he has presented at many international and national conferences. In 2006, Dr. Halmi became one of the very first surgeons in the state of Virginia to earn the designation of Center of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery (ABS) and certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Dr. Halmi is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FASMBS), and a member of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO), and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
