I was very impressed with Dr. Baranov, he was very easy to talk to and answered each question so that I could understand exactly what was going to happen, and he followed every answer with "and I'll tell you why" while never making me feel uncomfortable asking any question. I was more impressed with him with each visit he was always friendly and very supportive. One of the most important things about Dr. Baranov is that he never once made me feel bad about being obese which made a difficult emotional process that much easier.

Prior to my discharge from the hospital he gave me a verbal quiz on what the most important things were again emphasizing the importance of following the after care protocol.

Dr. Baranov is an amazing surgeon. He was very easy to talk to, and ensures that you have an understanding of all three procedures, so you can make the best choice for you. He cares about his patients and will do all he can to help you to succeed. There was never a time when consulting with him that he made me feel insecure or ashamed of being overweight. My surgery went smooth sailing. I had no complications. I am three months out and have absolutely no regrets. I did a huge amount of research on WLS in my area and found it to be non personal and very factory like. I was very concerned about comorbidities including age and a blood disorder. A physician friend suggested Dr. Baranov. I was relieved and impressed from the moment I walked in. His entire staff takes the time to get to know each patient. They are prompt with any inquiries. I met Dr. Dmitri Baranov four years ago and began thinking of having the surgery at that time. I went through the seminar and 5 of the 6 months requirements and decided to loose weight on my own.

I came home with no pain from the surgery or incision sites (this was done via laparoscopic surgery), and I was just uncomfortable with gas pains, which were gone by day five. I have no regrets, my mind set is on my health now and I am enjoying my new journey. Diabetes changed my life. Christmas of 2008 I contracted Guillane-Barre Syndrome allegedly from the common flu shot. It rendered me paralyzed from the neck down and took the hospitalists at Saratoga Hospital three weeks to diagnose it. After recovery I was left with full blown type two diabetes. I was overweight, smoked, and drank heavily. Atkins, Suzanne Sommers, Jenny Craig, Weightwatchers all had their hand at trying to get me to slim down. But inevitably the old hand to the mouth reflex had them beat.

Dr. Baranov is a no-holds-barred kind of dr.! I consider him extremely OCD, but medically speaking, that transfers to the most thorough dr I've ever had! Everyone who works in his office is very knowledgable about all things bariatric and they are very helpful with answering questions. Throughout this process they have offered a variety of support services including support groups, the practice's own website, on-line support groups, and many other tools to help in the decision-making process and to help once the decision to change your life for the better has been made. I am 4 weeks post RNY surgery and I feel great! I continue to make use of all the tools offered at Dr. Baranov's practice and I know that I will be successful if I make good use of these tools for this lifestyle change!

I have been overweight most of my life. I have an auto immune disease called scleroderma and it was taking over my life.
