Dr. Garth P. Davis, Bariatric Surgeon

Garth P. Davis, MD, FACS, FASMBS is a double board-certified surgeon specializing in advanced laparoscopic bariatric surgery at Mission Health. He is an experienced bariatric surgeon that is also board-certified in the medical management of obesity.

Dr. Davis graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Texas in Austin where he was recognized as the most outstanding student and served as Student Government President. He earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and graduated at the top of his class. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he served as Chief Administrative Resident. After his residency, he moved to Texas where he founded The Davis Clinic and became an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Texas-Houston.

Dr. Davis is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS). He is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

As a respected and recognized surgeon in the field of bariatric surgery, Dr. Davis previously starred on TLC’s television show Big Medicine which also starred his father, Dr. Robert Davis. He has authored numerous articles, abstracts, and two books; The Expert’s Guide to Weight-Loss Surgery and Proteinaholic: How Our Obsession with Meat Is Killing Us. Additionally, he has presented nationally to both patient and physician audiences.
