John DePeri Bariatric Surgeon MD, FACS

  Dr. John DePeri, Bariatric Surgeon John DePeri, MD, FACS earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University and his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his internship at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and then went on to complete a residency at the University of Florida and another at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Dr. DePeri was board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1998 and recertified in 2006 and 2017. He has been a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) since 2000. He is an experienced and skilled surgeon practicing at Memorial Advanced Surgery which is the largest and longest-running bariatric program in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. DePeri has been designated as a Center of Excellence Surgeon by the Surgical Review Committee. He has been performing da Vinci robotic laparoscopic bariatric surgeries and revisional bariatric surgery for many years. The use of the da Vinci robot when performing complex surgeries provides added patient safety, effective surgical care and a quicker recovery time. As an expert in bariatrics, Dr. DePeri performs the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RNY), the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG), Adjustable Gastric Banding, da Vinci Robotic Laparoscopic Revision and Open Revision procedures, and Single Incision Laparoscopic Band and Sleeve Surgery (SILS). Dr. DePeri’s practice also includes the full scope of general surgery including surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid, breast surgery, and surgery for melanoma and skin cancers. He is also performing the LINX procedure, the LINX Reflux Management System is a surgical option for patients suffering from GERD.
