  • --- If a patient's gallbladder is diseased (ie. contains stones or has signs of cholesterolosis) at the time of surgery, it will be removed. For those patients who have not previously had their gallbladder removed and those who's gallbladder is not removed at the time of surgery, a medication will be prescribed for the first 6-9 months post-op to help prevent the formation of gallstones.
