My first impression of Dr. HArkabus was that he sincerely wants to assist me in improving my quality of life. My original consult was to his assisting physician. Dr. Harkabus came in and spent 30 min with me/on unscheduled time of his own.
He asked a few questions to get an idea as to how much I am prepard for the surgery. He also wanted to see a certain level of commitment. Aftercare and followup was strenuously emphasized, and he accepted my word to appropriately followup as needed. He thoroughy described the risks of the sugery. None of wich was new as I have greatly prepared for this. He took his time inanswering all my questions, and concerns.
Dr. Harkabus was very friendly and explained everything to me about the surgery, what was expected of me, and what I could expect. He took the time to make sure I understood everything and asked if I had any questions. When I told him I could have the surgery whenever he was ready to do it, he went out of the room and came back within five minutes and had a surgery date for me. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help me in whatever way they could. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate him an 8. I haven't had surgery yet, so this may or may not change. We'll just have to wait and see.
my first impression of dr. harkabus is he was very attentive and gentle,he was also very helpful,and honest about the risks of the surgery i have only met with him once but i feel comfortable having him as my surgeon. well dr. h. isn`t doing my surgery anymore bc of the dates he has open.
i am now having my surgery with dr. wilcox he is great very sweet and informative made me feel right at ease, he is also cute reminds me of keifer sutherland. anyway i am so glad he is my surgeon he is just so nice
Gosh so much they say I should say. I went to Dr Harkabus on Dec 18th 2001. He asked alot of Questions ex.why did I want this surgery. I took a list of diets I had tried over the years.He sent me home with some things to read.I told him I come also come to this web site.He told me to read this material and if I was interested then make another appt. He thought I was a good candidate and I was very pleased with him he answered anything I had to ask and made sure I had the information I wanted and needed to make this decision. He was then gone for a month and I had to wait until Feb.7,2002 to have my next appt. I got scheduled for feb 20th but there was a mixup and we had to reschedule.Which he did for march 1,2002. I then went the day before and had to have another blood test because an earlier one had indicated that my white blood count was high and the 2nd one i took was even higher so he decided not to do my surgery because a high white blood count indicates an infection. I didnt like having surgery canceled but I understood that he did this in both of our best interest and I respected that. He sent me back to my primary care doc who is Dr Hata.I really respect her also. She sent me to the hemotogist and as soon as Dr Harkabus new I could have surgery he took the time without an appt and rescheduled me and I thought that was pretty nice.This is just part of the story. Inbetween all this the recetionist and people in the office were wondeful they didnt get upset that i called everyday starting with Dec 30 to get my next appt.and twice and fridays.That when I had a Q they got me an answer or had Dr Harkabus call me it didnt take days it took maybe one day.I wasnt a bother to them his staff gets very excited with you and tell you how people come in there that have had the surgery have done so well and look so great. His nurses have always talkedhighly of him. I would recommend him to anyone.So my new Surgery date is April29,2002 and lets hope for the best..
He was very thorough and very interested in what you were looking for and what you need. He described the surgery and talked about all the pros and cons. The office staff is also very nice and informative.
