Dr. Batty was great. Very nice person to deal with, and made sure I knew what I was getting into. I am glad he treated me like a person, some doctors don't do that when your overweight. Had my surgery March 25th. No complications. Had alittle draining from wound. I was taken very good care of in the hospital. The only thing that I wish, is that Dr. Batty is a very busy surgeon, and sometimes I feel alittle selfish in wishing I could call him up every time I had a question. I would recommend him to anyone. I haven't lost that much it seems like so far. Of course I would like a hundred pounds off in 6 weeks, but I know thats not realistic. Would love to hear from other patients of Dr. Batty's. And just a note to Dr. Batty- Thanks for doing my surgery Doc!

At first I was disappointed to find that my insurance did not refer to one of the more recognized bariatric treatment centers and/or surgeons. However, a friend pointed out that there are many, many surgeons who perform this surgery who are not affilliated with these centers and are perfectly decent doctors!

I've only seen Dr. Batty once at this point but found him to be very friendly, informative and kind. He told me that he is a conservative doctor and requires many pre-operative tests and evaluations before proceeding with the surgery, which is just fine with me! Everyone in his staff seemed very friendly and no one made me feel uncomfortable.

I asked him if he had a support group in place for his bypass patients and he said that he was in the process of getting it up and running as he knows this is a need. I hope that by the time I would be having surgery, that his support group is in place.

I can't really think of anything I didn't like about him at this point, but it's only been one visit. I will update if my opinion changes!

He was very nice, very stern about the importance of my being 100% sure I wanted this, and how that it was a very serious surgery and gave me the a list of problems that could come up during surgery. But at the same time told my wifeand I that he's done many of these operations and have never had any major problems, he then sent my PCP some tests for me and will see me a couple of more times to talk about what he needs and what I want. He was impressed at how much I knew about the surgery ( A lot I learned from WLS)and if I had any questions give him a call.He would be in touch with my PCP and we'll get together to make sure we're all on the same page.
When I needed help with my HMO, I asked the Offeice Manager if Dr. Batty would write a letter and call the HMO on my behalf. She said no it was my PCP's job. So he asked my insurance for the surgery,I was turned down because my surgeon didn't write a letter or call. I then called my surgeon's office and talked to his assistant, she handled everything,I received a note from my doctor and she, herslf, called the insurance. It was approved the next day.
