Dr. Billing is a Board Certified General Surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His primary interest is in bariatric and metabolic surgery. He practices at Eviva which has offices throughout the Puget Sound area including Shoreline, Edmonds, Woodinville, Bellingham and Puyallup. His other interests include management of heartburn, hernias and flexible gastrointestinal endoscopy. He is a member of several professional societies including the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Billing received his undergraduate degree in Microbiology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1988. He completed his medical school education in 1993 from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis School of Medicine. He went on to complete his general surgical residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota before coming to Seattle to practice at Eviva in 2004.
Dr. Billing’s other interests include endoscopic treatment of heartburn and obesity, and studying the metabolic changes which occur after bariatric surgery. He has been principal investigator of several clinical studies. He is currently co-investigator of a National Institute of Health supported grant with the Fred Hutch Cancer Center and the University of Chicago studying the cellular changes post bariatric surgery. He has authored several peer reviewed publications regarding his clinical and scientific interests. He also is the Medical Director of Eviva and is a Verified Surgeon through MBSAQIP. The heart of his practice is providing restorative care through a multidisciplinary team approach. Dr. Billing believes that good patient care comes from a having a high quality team with a passion for excellence.
