I was referred by my insurance provider to Scott and White for their bariatrics program in February 2012. I attended their monthly seminar which was hosted by Dr. Symmonds at the beginning of March. He was very informative and answered all the questions that I had with honest answers and made me feel that with him I would be in very good hands. I met with one of their coordinators, Paulette, for my first appointment and she, too, was very honest and informative. I never felt judged or embarrassed when dealing with anyone in the bariatric clinic, unlike previous attempts at looking in to having weight loss surgery. I had my RNY Gastric bypass at Scott and White Hospital with Dr. Symmonds at the end of June 2012. Dr. Symmonds came to see me in my hospital room the day of surgery, as soon as I was awake enough to talk to him, and again the following morning before I was discharged to go home.
I have felt supported and well informed by the people who work at the Scott and White bariatrics clinic and am thankful that I chose them to do my surgery. I couldn't have asked for a better team of doctors.

He was the one hosting the Bariatric Seminar. Seems very open and level headed, very straight forward which I liked. Gave me lots of options to ask questions regarding the surgery, recovery and such. Didn't feel rushed at all. I had him and a resident surgeon as care takers. Saw both of them about 4 times in the 24 hrs after surgery. My surgery went great. The pain on the incision sites is minimal - pre op diet worked great - had a nice and small liver. One thing that surprised me was the big indention on my stomach where the Operating Instruments were ported. This is supposd to push back out over time. Discharge info was very thorough. I say all in all they receive a big A from me. I have plenty numbers to call and plenty of encouragement to stay in touch with any questions I have. Already had my post op appointment scheduled 3 weeks ago as well. Even my nursing staff was great! A big thumbs up for Scott and White and Dr. Symmonds.

First impression was good, comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. He is very matter of fact, but smiled and was pleasent and made me feel like a person, not a case. Aftercare is very important and disucssed thouroughly. Overall very pleased with Dr. Symmonds.

My first impression of dr Symmonds was that he knew what he was talking about he was real and he was not negitive about the weight that people (I) have gained. have not had much interraction with hime other than the 1st meeting. hope to interract with him more. I did not talk much with his staff so i dont know much about them. he did address lots of factors in the meeting liek the risks of surgery, after surgery time and he seem like he could do the surgery in his sleep...i dont know if he really could. rate over all so far is an 7 out of 10...I cant spell.

The ENTIRE staff is wonderful!!! My first impression of Dr. Symmonds was \"I am in good hands!\" He is extremely informative to the point where I had no questions for him only looking forward to the day. Paulette is amazing! She goes over EVERYTHING with you the pre-op diet, medications, and everything that is going to happen from start to finish. I was completely nervous before my pre-op appointment and once I had went I knew for sure I was were I needed to be! And everyone has the same goal \"The patient's needs!\" Thank you so very much Jeremy, Denise, Mallie, Paulette, and Of Dr. Symmonds you all are Absolutely GREAT at what you do!

My first impression of him was that he is all work and no play. But He did a great job and did check on me twice at the hospital. His immediate staff is wonderful but I cant say much about some of the nurses at the hospital or the business office people. I am glad I chose him to do my surgery he was very confident and made me feel at ease.

My first impression of him was that he was well kept and friendly. My impression didn't change over time. His office staff was always friendly. There was nothing I didn't like about him, he was always able to answer any questions I had and always made me feel important. He is a very skilled surgeon. Aftercare is something they stress because they want you to succeed. They addressed the risks of surgery by having me take a test after going over the risks to be sure I understood. I would give him a rating of 100% his surgical competence and his bedside manner are both great.
