I love Dr. Sundberg! He is very caring and compassionate. Since he has had the surgery himself, he is very knowledgeable in what we are going through. The office staff is great also. I developed an infection around the G tube after discharge. Dr. Sundberg came and saw me 3 times while I was waiting for tests to figure out what was going on. I was suppose to call each day to let them know how I was doing. One day they called me since I hadn't called in yet! And they wanted to let me know Dr. Sundberg was on call for the weekend if I needed him.

He never hurries thru your exam. You always feel you are the only patient in the office. And he is a great source of inspiration for me. He's now like the energizer bunny! So full of zest for life! A lot of surgeons don't relate well to the patient after surgery. Not Dr. Sundberg! He's like Marcus Welby in surgical scrubs! I would highly recommend his program.

I went o Dr. Sundberg because he had WLS surgery himself. SInce then I am glad it did. AT eight months out I have lost 140 lbs. I have had several set backs but Dr. SUndberg has been great. If I had not done this yet, I would go to him again.

I liked Dr. Sundberg and his office staff from the first meeting. Doc is always smiling and, now that he's thin too, he just bounds with energy. He was easy to talk to, honest in his answers to questions, and I've never felt hurried or that I was a bother, in his office at all. His demeanor is very professional and his office staff works very hard to have the answers to any question or problem that may arise. His practice is not limited to Bariatrics, he is also a general surgeon. So you will see all kinds of patients in his office. He also sees patients in Webster City as well as Boone. The aftercare program is very good although living in Des Moines and it being winter it is hard to get back and forth to support group. They now have on-line help available which I like alot. If you have questions you can call or e-mail.

The first time I heard Dr. Sundberg speak, I could sense his caring attitude. One of the reasons is because he, too, has had bariatric surgery and knows it from both sides. He and his partner, Dr. Rick Unger, are phenomenal in their caring. Their staff is a pleasure to work with and I had no problems in getting my insurance taken care of through them. One main reason I chose to go with Dr. Sundberg is his exceptional pre-op and post-op program. A lot hurdles to over before the big day, but you know he wants your success as much as you do. He made sure that I understand any and all risks of the surgery, so when I had a tiny leak and had to go back for more surgery, I wasn't taken off-guard. His bedside manner is friendly and caring-- hands on and making sure everything is working well before he lets you go. I know there are many fine surgeons out there, but with Dr. Sundberg having been through it all gives him an edge in bedside manner that cannot be discounted.

I have only met Dr. Sundberg once at an informational meeting. I have talked to Dr. Unger-his partner and liked them both. One thing I really liked is the fact that Dr. Sundberg has actually had the surgery himself. That gives me more confidence that he would know more of what we are going through.

These doctors require you to attend an informational meeting. They have them fairly often and in different towns. After you attend one then you may request a packet to fill out so they can decide if you are a candidate for WLS. I attended their meeting on a Tuesday, called for a packet on Wednesday, received it on Friday and filled it out and sent it back on the same day. When I called the office on the following Thursday they were just getting ready to send the info to insurance. I received my approval from my insurance only 9 days later! I figure it only took them 3 days! Unbelieveable!

I have to say that I think Dr. Sundberg is the best there is. I am sure that every person will feel the same about there own Dr.
Dr. Sundberg is always very pleasant and just a all around great person. He is easy to talk to and takes time to listen and answer all the questions you have. He is very educated with this procedure. He has had the surgery him self so knows first hand what you are going through.

If I had it to do all over again I wouldn't change a thing. I would recommend Dr. Sundberg to everyone. You would not regret having him for your surgeon.
His office staff is also great they are they to help in any way they can.
He is planning on starting a support group in the area which will be great.

On a scale of 1-10 10 being the greatest I would give Dr. Sundberg a 12 he is the greatest.
