I just wanted to give everyone an update on my surgery. I had my surgery on December 18, 2008 and was not nervous at all. Dr. Hamm was very reassuring and that made me all the more confident that the surgery was going to be a success without no complications. His PA Amy was very friendly and professional in explaining the procedure before and after when she came to see me. Tammy, Tonya, and even the whole office staff have done nothing but be professional and friendly every step of the way. I thank Dr. Hamm for giving me my life back and I would recommend Dr. Hamm to anyone I know that is thinking about getting this surgery.

I was referred to Dr. Hamn by my family physician (Dr. Alma Garza) in December 08. I had been contemplating weight loss surgery for approximately a year. rnrnI went to one of Dr. Hamn's seminars, met with him afterwards and an additional time for some more specific questions I had about the procedure I had selected. Dr. Hamn is very attentive and answers all questions direct and with all the pro's and con's. rnrnBecause he is someone I felt comfortable with, I scheduled surgery January 15th at Baylor Frisco. He was very reassuring the day of surgery and made me feel at ease. I was in hospital 2.5 days and he sent Tammy his physician assistant to check on me day 2 and came personally on day 3 to discharge me from the hospital.rnrnFor those of you taking the insurance route Tonya at his office is amazing to work with.rnrnThumbs up to Dr. Hamn and his entire staff for the caring and professional atmosphere!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Hamn. He is a fantastic surgeon and has over 20 years of experience. I found out he was the first surgeon in Plano Texas that started doing weight loss surgery. When choosing a Dr. for weight loss surgery I wanted one with many many years of experience. My insurance company would not pay for the operation ( Lap-Band ) so I paid cash and had my surgery at Baylor Frisco. It is a very plush hospital and I got to stay overnight. Dr. Hamn keeps his patients one night in the hospital for their comfort. Other biariatric Dr's do their surgery's at day surgery places and kick you out the same day!!! I am so excited about my weight loss so far. Dr. Hamn's office is wonderful and very caring. Dr. Hamn has a wonderful bedside manner and I felt totally safe in his hands. I give Dr. Hamn and his staff a rating of 10 out of 10.

Dr. Hamn is great! His office staff is very helpful and always helpful when I had questions. I was disappointed at first when I wasn't losing weight as fast as I 'thought' I should be but Dr.Hamn kept me on track and over time the weight loss has been steady and I am thrilled with where I am now!rn rnI think surgical competance is important, but lap band is a tool and if you are going to be sucessful you have to have a good surgeon and office staff that is going to support you and help keep you on track after your surgery.

Dr. Hamn did a good job of preparing me for pre-op and post-op. He was open to all of my questions. Whenever I had a post-op question, I could just call the office and get answers. I would recommend him to someone looking for a surgeon.

Dr. Hamn was great. He is very straight forward as to what is expected on your part once the surgery is completed. He spelled out all that could possibly go wrong with the surgery and emphasized it was just a tool, not an absolute solution to my problem. He encouraged me to go to the Support Group that meets once a month at the hospital. His staff is wonderful. He came highly recommended by everyone that I talked to that had experienced this issue. Not the greatest on bedside manner, but I needed someone who would be honest yet firm with me to help me realize this isn't just a piece of cake. I'd recommend him to anyone.

I met Dr. Hamn at a seminar/consult and was pleased with his knowledge and the time he spent answering everyone's questions that day. He then took the time to answer one on one questions during the consult for those of us who stayed to pursue our WLS with him. rnrnHis office staff is very helpful and informative. It is especially nice to have on staff a lap band post-op. She looks amazing after losing 140 lbs! rnrnWhen I was going through my pre-opt tests and final appointment before surgery, Dr. Hamn and his staff was quick to help ease me fears yet took the time to ensure that I understood the pros and cons along with potential risks. My biggest fear that day was a chronic cough I have caused by allergies. Dr. Hamn explained to me that it would not hurt my band. He also let me know there is a small possibility of an abdominal hernia in one of my incision sights. Can only pray this doesn't happen however, I will be in very good hands with Dr. Hamn should he need to repair one. rnrnAdditionally, I have a huge scar on my stomach form gallbladder surgery performed 30+ years ago pefore laporoscopy methods were used. He explained the risk of old internal scarring would determine my incision sights. rnrnI saw him prior to going to the OR and had opportunity to ask any final questions and let my husband ask any. The follow morning he took the time to go over my post surgery do's and don'ts along with his expectations of my water and protien intake plus walking. He made is very clear how important water is to prevent dehydration. Protien to promote healing. Walking to prevent blood clots. rnrnOverall, he met my expectations as a surgeon and he never made me feel like he didn't have time to listen to my questions or concerns.rnrnI would rate him and his office staff with a 10 out of 10.

My initial consultation with Dr. Hamn was what I expected. I had read he was a very to-the-point no non-sense kind of guy and that's what he was. I went to his seminar and he was honest and to the point regarding the different surgeries and the risks. No coddling, which is fine with me. I was coddled my whole life I don't need it now. I loved the office staff. Everyone there was so nice. Sheryl the office coordinator has been so helpful and prompt with getting back to me with everything.
