Dr. Emeka Acholonu, Bariatric Surgeon

Emeka Acholonu, MD, FACS, FASMBS is a fellowship trained, board-certified bariatric surgeon using his surgical expertise at Virtua Surgical Group in Voorhees and Haddon Heights, New Jersey. He earned his medical degree at the University of Nigeria. He completed an internship and his residency at Howard University Hospital and fellowship trained at the Cleveland Clinic Florida.

Dr. Acholonu is a fellow of The American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He has authored numerous publications on important topics including surgical outcomes and safety, laparoscopic bariatric surgery in morbidly obese adolescents, outcomes of bariatric surgery in patients over 70 years of age, and revisional weight loss surgeries.

Dr. Acholonu is affiliated withVirtua Marlton Hospital and Virtua Memorial Hospital which are proudly nationally recognized for excellence in bariatric surgical standards and accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).
