Ok, What can I say about this man?? He CARES!! Dr. Nease has been wonderful since the day I met him. I can't stress enough the amount of gratitude I have for him and his staff. They helped me start my new beginning and gave me the tools for success. They were a gift from God and I will always be thankful for that. God Bless Dr. Nease and his staff I will truly NEVER forget them for what they have done for me!

I had heard very good things about Dr. Nease and decided to atend one of his seminars. I got a little irritated when one of his staff told me he won't do the surgery on a smoker. Great, another slam for being a smoker;) I almost left, but decided to at least stay and listen. I was very impressed with Dr. Nease. He goes over some of his family history and it's clear why he is so passionate about what he does. I knew by the time it was over, this was what I needed to do to improve my health. I am also extremely proud to say I gave up a 31year, 2 pack a day smoking habit! 1/29/10 will make a year. It's a long, slow process to eventually get everything done to have surgery, but it's SO worth it. Dr. Nease and his staff make sure that you're very well informed and educated prior to surgery, and have support groups to help before and after surgery. I was banded on Sept. 23,2009. Cabell Huntington Hospital has wonderful facilities and staff to assist you both pre and post op. Dr Nease is great in preparing you for surgery and in his visits after surgery. I've had several surgeries and this one went very smoothly. A lot in part to my knowing what to expect. I'm very happy with my decision and with my ongoing progress. If I had to say anything negative, it would only be that it's a very busy office and I usually have to wait quite a while when I go to my appointments, but to me, it's well worth the wait:)

Dr. Nease is very kind, and knowledgable. I did not have any problems with the initial surgery.
I am now 7 years out and have started to regain, about 30lbs out of 115lbs lost. I have been trying to get an appointment with him since Nov 2013 and it has been rescheduled by his staff 3 times.
I now have an appointment in June, hope he can fix me.

The staff are really sweet, Jackie Stanley is the first person you work with, she is the Insurance guru and she will tell you everything you need to accomplish to get your first appointment with Dr. Nease.

My surgeon was Dr Nease, from Huntington, West Virginia. My first impression of him was truly someone who cares about you and your situation. He tells you in the seminar why he originally got into this was due to a family history of obesity. I was very upfront and honest with me in our first visit and gave me a lot of information to digest but was willing to answer any questions I had. He does not push you through your visit, if you have questions he will stay in the room with you until he has answered and you understand everything. This impressed me. Although your scheduled appt. time may run over after your first visit you will understand why your an hour past your time and have not been called back yet. His office staff is above outstanding. One of his staff has had WLS herself and is willing to help you with anything or questions you may have. The dietitian is wonderful and understanding of your needs and situations that may differ in your case from others. His nurse is very calming and reassuring and has a great compassion toward obese people.I live 3 hours from his office and his staff and himself were more than accommodating to my schedule and comfort for appts and classes even on the day of surgery they were looking out for me and my family to arrange everything. On a scale of 1-10 Dr Nease and his staff are far off the scale .. honestly at least a 15! He has patients as far away as Arizona and California coming in to have surgery so that ought to speak louder than anything..... He is truly wonderful!

I first met Dr. Nease at a seminar in Garden Grove May 2003 and my first impression of him was that he was not only extremly intellegent and informative, but very kind and compassionate. I knew from that first encounter that if I was having this surgery that I wanted no one else but him. To appease my family and friends I researched for another year to make sure that this was what I was going to do for my health and future. I attended two other seminars with other doctors and came back to Dr. Nease and attended a 2nd seminar with him. Any questions that were not answered the first time were addressed at this seminar (plus I had my questions down at this point).

My first impression was correct! This man is WONDERFUL!!!

The staff in his office are GREAT. I call all the time and they always greet me pleasantly and answer all of my questions. If they are not able to answer immediatly Dr. Nease calls me. They did everything they could to help me with the insurance and when I was approved, Marla took me step by step as to what would happen pre op. Cynthia and Kim are also great sources of information.

There is nothing negative I can say about Dr. Nease or his staff. They all know what they are talking about and if not they make sure that they get the information and get back to me within a day or two.

Again, what can I say but I have the greatest respect for Dr. Nease and found him to have not only a great mind, but a wonderful bedside manner (and you don't usually get both) so my experience with him was the best.

Aftercare: I have a 2-3 hr appt on Monday to find out what needs to happen next. (if it is anything like pre-op) I know that it will be very detailed (step by step). He also has a support group that meets every other Tuesday. I started attending these 2 months prior to my surgery and found that they were very supportive of me and my journey and the information I received by attending has been a tremendous help. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone getting ready for surgry to attend these meetings PRIOR to surgery! They are all about what you need to do...not just today or tomorrow but the rest of your life. I have found out about vitamins and nutrietion, exercise and even a cooking demonstration from one of the patients.

Surgery Risks...He covers everything in his seminars, then again after you are approved by surgery, he also sits down and addresses your personal risks one on one...(ie diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.) and what can/could happen due to surgery during in your pre op meeting. You also received a 2" binder...(that's right)with step by step instructions of your surgery, with information starting from the time you walk in the door of the hospital (with any complications that can arise as a result of any part of your surgery)and info about post-op as well.

I know that I am repeating myself, but I truly found that Dr. Nease is one of the BEST surgeons out there. I need to know everything and he is very through on every bit of information he hands you or talks to you about. There is no question about what it is that you are about to do.

I would rate him EXCELLANT in both catagories...surgical competence and bedside manner this is Dr. Nease's passion...once you meet with him you will not want to go anywhere else for your surgery!
