Initial appt. scheduled / People don't get it!

Dec 21, 2009

Dr. Heydari's office called today to set up my initial consultation appointment with him! So I will be seeing him on Wednesday, January 20th! I'm so excited! I can't wait to get this process rolling! I'm also excited to meet Dr. Heydari! I have heard so many wonderful things about him that I wonder if he can really live up to the idea that I have of him now. I wonder how Dr. Heydari can have such a successful practice while seeming to personally know and involve himself in so many patients lives.
So I've got a month to wait now...

I went to a support group meeting on Monday last week, which was awesome! The individuals I met and spoke with were so positive and enthusiastic! They were also very friendly. (All, or nearly all, are patients of Dr, Heydari.) There was easily 50 people in the room that evening. One of the things they mentioned was being careful who you told about your interest in or actually having WLS. I didn't fully understand that, but I do now! I tend to be very vocal about what's going on in my life. When I get excited about something I generally share my news with everyone. Well, I've told most of my co-workers, which is okay. Most of them are non-committal. However I told a few select friends from church and had negative reactions. These specific individuals told me not to do it and to try another diet that they know of. I know they just don't understand the procedure itself, nor my medical issues. So I've decided to be a little more hush-hush about WLS. I'm not ashamed of having surgery, I'm just tired of explaining why it is a good option for me medically.

Take care everyone!
