We were at a bday party over the weekend. My 5 yr old was eating some cake and bit the end off a tine on her pladtic fork. I said ohhhhhhhh... Did you eat it???? Wish I could have captured the look on her face. She'll pass it, right????

Not necessarily. Either end could get poked into her intestine as it passes thru and cause some serious damage. I would call her pediatrician ASAP and get their advice. Are you catching every poo she does and looking for the lil bugger?
Good luck,
Holly

MyDH is an EMT and called the pediatrician -- what JuneC said below! He is on poo patrol today.

I wouldnt stress it too much, mine have swallowed many things. If it was a small piece it should pass with no issues.

 kids, eh?

my oldest once swallowed a screw... that passed, thank goodness.  my oldest stepson once swallowed a flashlight lightbulb, and that passed.  he is now 23 and still tells people he "swallowed a lightbulb" when he was a baby.  he never explains it was from a flashlight, so you should see the looks on their faces, lol.

good luck finding the tine.

My daughter swallowed a marble (on a dare from her foster brother) when she was eight.  I rushed her to the hospital (what did I know).  They X-rayed to make sure she didn't aspirate it into a lung but everything was fine.  I can only assume she passed it as she is now 21.   I'm sure your daughter will be fine and will have lasting memories.
