Hi Dee!

This is very uncommon.  Yes, we have loose stools at first.  Think about it - liquid in = liquid out.  But, I have not once had "Explosive diarrhea."  It's much softer than it was prior to my DS.  I'll take that ANY day to constipation issues and very hard, large stools I had before.  I would easily clog the toilet!

Now, I did have a situation ONE time about a month or so after surgery where I had to use the facility.  I was lifting up the lid to sit down and sneezed.  Oooops!  I threw those undies away!  Then after my poop, I took a shower.  Otherwise, I have not lost control of my bowels.

Oh, I'm about 3 1/2 months out now.  And I LOVE my DS!
Jo

Sorry, none here. Are you having it?   Have you contacted your doctor about it?

Dee- Are you having problems?  Explosive diarrhea at six months is not the norm and if you are having this issues it may be due to other problems not just the surgery per say.  Can you give us more information? Red

I had diarrhea for about 3 weeks postop.  I treated it and it went away.  I still have diarrhea occasionally if I eat too many sugar alcohols but that's pretty much it.  Diarrhea does need to be treated and it's not normal.

This is not normal and should be treatable. What have your docs tried thus far?
