I'm no expert, but I would think the only reason for a revision like this would be if you had an unusually long common channel initially for some reason, and you wanted it shortened, but I would think this is insanely rare.
However, I've seen others have some regain after DS, and the key seems to be to get back to basics--eat high protein, high fat, and low carb, and get plenty of water.

Hi Starry
The person that had their stomach trimmed or made smaller was a regular member on the DS forum. She wanted to reach her goal weight. She didn't feel well afterward but I believe that it was still early on in her revision that she felt that way.
I wish we could find her. I forgot all about that and now I do wonder what happened to her.
The other woman who had multiple WLS VBG to RNY to DS w. same RNY pouch to Schelotherapy (spel is totally wrong - it's the pleats in the stoma & pouch to give more restriction) has not at all lost all of her excess weight even with much PS. You were wise in getting your RNY revised completely to a VSG/DS. RNYers seem to be offered the eRNY as a revision option as of late??? All of the newer non-evasive revisions with the RNY don't seem successful at all.
Best,
Leila

I don't think you will find a DS patient that "gains back alot of weight" to begin with. Not to say that regain isn't possible, just read my profile to see how it happened with me, but the amount of regain was very small compared to how much I lost.
I think DS to DS revisions are very rare and only in extreme cases of issues like already mentioned. I can't say I know of anyone that has done this.
Weight regain is handled by getting back to basics which I have been doing for a few months now and have lost 35 lbs relatively easily and I am eight years out.

The stomach can be "resleeved" to restore restriction if it was made too big in the first place, or stretched out too much. (What follows is MY OPINION!) However, this surgery would be considerably more dangerous than a "virgin" sleeve, since the stomach tissue would be thinned and more prone to leaks.
I doubt you'd want to decrease the length of the common channel however -- probably very little chance it would help much, and therefore an unnecessary risk.
I'm not a surgeon, I just pretend to be one, based on my reading. A real DS surgeon would be the one to ask about this.

My surgeon told me that one of the most common reasons to reverse the switch portion is due to serious malnutrition. Of course, the stomach portion cannot be reversed because the outer portion is already gone. Who would want that portion back anyway???
My surgeon does not perform the lap-band operation at all. As an esophageal specialist outside of bariatrics, he has seen too many problems with the esophagus. So no lap-band over the stomach.

DS (lap) with Dr. Clifford Deveney. Cholecystectomy (lap) with Dr. Clifford Deveney 19 months post-op.
Has not weighed myself since 1/2010. Letting my clothes gauge my progress instead.
I believe I read one report of a patent having the VSG re-done to tighten it up, but I can't remember now where I read it, sorry.
For people who are in danger of serious health problems from malabsorption the common channel can be lengthened, or that portion can be taken down completely, since it is reversible.
The only reversal I've heard of was one related to me by Dr. B himself while I was in Spain. Apparently it was done because the person was simply unable to take care of themselves properly, take vitamins, eat protein, etc.

Of course there is an exception to every rule, and it's an extreme rarity, but DSers usually don't need revisions. Gaining weight is possible, and its usually from being stupid with simple carbs to amount to anything significant. If one experiences this, they stop that behavior and start losing again.
