Why is fat important?

Cheese and nuts are loaded with fat, and some protein. Put butter on anything that moves.

6'3" tall, male.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

Agreed that this could be part of your constipation issues. No numbers to aim for (sorry I don't track fat) but just try to be creative. Like others have said, definitely don't avoid fat. Use butter with your eggs. Add butter or oil where appropriate. Cheese and nuts are high in fat.

I've been having some nuts (I feel fortunate that I at least love those!) and adding butter where I can. I shouldn't have cheese - my endocrinologist ran a food sensitivity test on me (Alletess) and milk, cheese and yogurt all cause inflammation for me, as does seafood (which I can't stand anyway). I've had a hard time coming up with things to eat that fit within my current diet parameters and it's been difficult (especially trying to squeeze the fat into it). A lot of the blogs that I've found with recipes are for gastric bypass and not DS. I wish I could find a site that had a really good list of recipes for someone like me at this particular point in my post-surgery timeline.

Cashews. I bring a big baggy to work and munch during the day. BACON, add it to meals.

When they did the cheese test was it for soft or hard cheeses? I'm lactose and whey intolerant, but cheese is ok for me.
