1200 max calories per day, which is pretty generous for a post menopausal 56 year old. However, I am 6ft tall, so it's a lot of body to fuel lol.

My tested RMR was 1958 calories.

I might suggest therapy as a better solution. You need to address the cause of the "xxxx eating"

We need to stop assuming it's an easy fix. Obesity is complex and addiction is complex. Success might be a phone call away vs. just relying on a plan - you might need both. Good luck.

Hi Scale Skater,

I've thought long and hard about that as well!

Obesity is so complex and I do know the eating is related to stress.

I don't ever want to go back to where I was....deathly afraid of that!

Thank you for bringing up such a hard topic.

Part of my - holding myself accountable - strategies to address the "what's different about this attempt at losing weight" is the therapy component. I saw him this morning and we talk about all the aspects of addiction, emotion, relationships... i never can get too off the rails as i see him every 2 to 3 weeks. Best money I ever spent. Friends of mine who had this surgery and go on "autopilot" are already 50% up on their loss with regain. They still say they can do this on their own. I know I can't and the interesting piece is that I'm learning about myself. One of the strongest tools I use (that he gave me) is the 20 minute rule. If I want to eat something off plan, I have to stop and wait 20 minutes. If I still want to eat it after 20 minutes - I have the green light. You think that would be dangerous, but that 20 minutes almost always defuses me. I think i've only consumed the item about 5% of the time. Many times I completely forget that I was going to eat it, as I get distracted by something else to do. It's fantastic and freeing. Give that one a try.

...eating a dense protein food choice beforehand makes the 20-minute-waiting rule easier to comply with.

Hi selhard,

Agreed, knowing how dense protein makes me feel !
