Sleeping after surgery
I slept in the recliner the entire first week.
The second week I started sleeping in the bed and I usually switch over to the recliner at about 2 am.
My problem is that I'm a side sleeper and it still hurts (gravity pain) to turn on my side.
I wouldn't tell anyone to go buy a recliner for a surgery, but I can't imagine going through this without mine.

Chalk me up as another that has been in the recliner since surgery. I've tried the bed (I'm a side sleeper) but so far gravity has not been my friend. I try again every few days and hopefully I'm getting close to returning to bed.

Beyond Goal
I might be a bit late with replying but.. I only had issues the first week with my drain in (evil horrible little thing it was...) since I could only sleep on my back and I have always had back issues. But didnt really have any issues after the drain was taken out. I didnt have a recliner so I just propped myself a bit more than usual with pilows and it seemed fine. But from what everyone else is saying it seems its really different per person, so if you think you might have issues then maybe consider buying/renting a recliner just in case. :)
