Diabetes resolved with sleeve?
If you think you might want to add on the switch some day, you whould probably get the DS approved as a two-parter from the beginning. Then it qualifies as "one surgery".
But if you lost with the band, you'll lose with the sleeve. The sleeve is great for people who lose with a band but then band give them trouble.

Before sleeve, FBS 179-200 taking 2000mg metformin and glyberide.(A1C 7.8)
8 weeks after A1C 5.9. this will require counting carbs for the rest of your life
Thanks, She keeps saying she will support whatever I choose, but then forwards me studies on the RNY being better....
I look at my stats and the band did not help me lose as much as I thought, I did a LOT of it MYSELF, however it helped me maintain, and continue everytime I got back on the bandwagon.
my surgeon says that because im diabetic more than 12 years AND ON INSULIN more than a year none of the surgeries are shore to put me in complete remission but they all will improve my dm and probably get me off insulin and maybe my oral drugs
he also suggested the sleeve because it is a safer surgery for someone with as high a bmi as I have started at 74 and I am down to 65, my a1c also improved from 7.2 to 5.8 and i'm still pre op
my surgeon does the band sleeve or ryn but at the support group it seems like most people are getting the sleeve
my surgeon is a wls patient , he lost 80 lbs with a band but he said the band was not for me
