Anytime Fitness

Happy New Year everyone. Has anyone had experience with Anytime Fitness? My cousin manages one in Milwaukee and said that some franchises are running a great deal right now. And since there is one about 7 miles from me, there is no excuse not to sign up. I could go everyday and get my exercise in without breaking my bank account. Anyone who is a member, please let me know how you like it.

I go to anytime fitness 3 times a week.

My insurance pays for my basic membership. Silver sneakers program.

Great equipment, clean, knowledgeable staff, 24 hr access

What's not to like?

Mines 6 miles from home.

I'm gonna start weight training this month, when cleared.

Thanks for the info. My insurance gives discounts for fitness centers I have never heard of unfortunatlely. I am going to do the bikes and treadmill if I sign up. I go for a tour on Tuesday after work.

Anytime Fitness fits my needs perfect. There is a location 1 mile from my house and another location a mile from my work that I use at lunchtime 4 to 5 days per week. $29.99 per month is reasonable. Gyms are not huge but typically have what you need for the average user. I think most offer classes and trainers, though for additional fees. I have used a trainer once per week for the last 3 weeks and I highly recommend as I have seen considerable results that the last 6 months on my own hadn't produced.

I will say they are franchise owned so each location can be different. The two I visit have some significant differences and the one closer to my work is much preferable.

Thank you so much for the info. I will look into using the trainer. The AF I am near has trainers there per their web site.

Make sure to check their cancellation policy.  Some gyms really try to screw you over if you decide you want to cancel.  So it's a good thing to check on before you sign any contracts!

They are more expensive than many of the bigger gyms but it is nice that there aren't always 50 people working out. Sometimes it seems that the equipment should be replaced but being small, they try and make stuff last too long. I continue to use them because they are 2 miles away, so very handy, plus I can go whenever I feel like it.

I was hoping that a Planet Fitness would open up in the same town, but it hasn't. Thanks for the info.

We had a membership at one time. We really liked the gym and the fact that we could use any location around the country when we would travel. Our location closed with no warning and the next nearest one was way too far for us. Thankfully we were at "month to month" by then and we were able to bow out without cost.  Would have been peeved to have to pay on a contract and not be able to us  it.   I worry that these franchise type gyms are not as stable as others.
