I was thinking of you, and hoping I'd hear from you today.  It has been an amazing three years.

How are you?

Did you have your plastics yet?  Are you still planning on doing it?

Do keep in touch.  I miss hearing from the old gang.

best wishes,

Carol

I had an LBL, ARM AND BREAST LIFT with Dr Joseph Capella

Im very happy with the outcome (most days), but I have to tell you

a lifetime of picking yourself apart does not disappear overnite..

It's  funny my negative self image, did in fact,  disappear for about a year or so,

Then I started playing around and focusing on the hanging flab, became obsessed

got plastics.. I'm happy, I'm sad, I'm happy,  I'm disappointed...

I'M RIDICULOUS!!!!

It's true what you said, this surgery isn't a miraculous fix all..

the work,  for me (headwise) is on going..

but it is  still, and will ALWAYS be, the best decision I've ever made...

this surgery made me healthy and gave me back my life!!

It is really challenging dealing with the head games.  I wish I had an easy solution, but I guess its just part of the work of being human to deal with these issues.  I read something today about "accepting where we are - even the difficult stuff."  (I'm sure that was badly paraphrased, but that's what I took from it.)  Part of being human is dealing with this part of our brain.  I've heard it called "the Monkey brain" - but whatever you call it, it is still a powerful force in our psyche's.  And right now it is keeping me from sleeping (note that I am writing this at 3AM)

I'm glad to hear you had the plastics, and I wish you the best in your journey.

Your Sleeve Sister,

Carol

I remember when you were having your plastics done, I was about 3 months behind you! FYI - I feel the same way and truly believe it when you say "a lifetime of picking yourself apart does not disappear overnight". SO TRUE! I thought I would come out with a six pack and perfect boobs LOL. No one ever told me it takes a year for everything to settle in. So here I am 4 months out, looking the best I ever had, still finding myself in front of the mirror picking myself apart. But agreeing with all your other points too - its not a miraculous fix all, its hard work, your (everyones) head has to be in the game at all times to be successful!

I hope you are doing well!

Because of the inspiration from you and others on OH, I have lost 95 pounds and am within 8 pounds of my goal weight.  This morning my husband and I participated in our 3rd 5K walk/run, and there will be many more in my future.  Last year, a 5K would have been impossible for me, but now I feel like I could walk to the moon and back.

Thank the you for your posts.  I read them all, and glean as much information from them as I can.  The future is ours, and I plan on taking full advantage of the many years I have ahead of me, now that I am no longer obese.

5' 5" tall. VSG on August 4, 2015/ Starting weight 239.9/ Surgery weight 210.9/ Current weight 137.4/ Goal weight 140/ No longer overweight, now a NORMAL weight. Now that I'm at goal, it's time to move on to maintenance!!!!!!!!

I'm so pleased to hear you are doing so well.  I admire you for pursuing the 5K walk/run.  That is inspirational!

Thank you for your kind words.  I wish you the best in your journey.
