Hi Amanda -
It looks like we are surgery buddies. I had my surgery 06/05/07 at Duke University Medical Center. I dropped 15 lbs. in the first 10 days, then NOTHING for about 2 wks. I know, it's been 4 wks for you. I can only imagine, just how frustrating that must be. At any rate, I think that you recent drop is a sign of things to come. When I spoke with my surgeon about my "drought", he said that weight loss is not a steady downward trend. Instead he said to think of it as stair-stepped ... Down, then level, down, then level ... He said that basically when your body realizes that it's actually starving, it literally does everything in it's power to hold onto it's precious resources, causing a plateau or what I call a drought. He also said that because of the mechanism of the surgery and if you are following the protocol, eventually you win and your body drops weight. Then it panicks again and the cycle starts all over.
I'm glad to say that I'm now down 28 lbs from surgery and 48 from the start of this oddessy.

P.S. I'm planning on going on the Jan '08 cruise too. I hope to meet you there. bmc.
