Hey guys, so we are planning on Mexican food on mothers day, and I am 4 1/2 weeks out with the lap band, I'm on full liquids/ baby textured food. Since oysters have no calories, and is very easy to swallow, and easy on the band I was just wondering if anyone else has had them about 4 to 5 weeks out???
I have RNY, but here's my take;
Oysters do have calories by the way ;) but not bad. About 60 calories for 6 medium sized ones and about 6 grams of protein. They are very soft, and can be chewed down to about nothing, so yes, for me with the RNY, I would have eaten them at 4-5 weeks out with no problems. Happy Mother's Day!

You were here last week saying that you had chest pain because you ate part of a turkey sandwich while you were supposed to be on liquids.
I don't understand what you want from the group?
Do you just want permission to eat off of your plan?
Oysters are not liquid and they are not baby food consistency.
Sure, you could probably chew them until they are that consistency, but the goal here for the first several weeks is to rest your stomach and let the band seat properly.
Suck it up and follow your doctors orders and quit looking for a short cut.

Sweetie you need to calm down, this is what a support group is. And for your info, I'm just asking questions. I had a visit with my doctor and everything is fine. And btw every person is different. And its not about ask permission, its about asking if anyone else has had the same experience. So back off. Please don't comment me anymore, apparently you have no clue what a support group is..
Kathkeb, I just wanted to say that I completely agree with you! I've been reading her posts with annoyance too because it seems like she just wants someone to say it's ok to cheat. That is not support and that would be like going to AA so people could say 'yes it's ok to drink'. If you are supposed to be eating A stop asking if you can eat B, just eat what you are supposed to eat!
