I observed my 3 month mark on Monday and have lost 66 pounds. I'll post a before/after as soon as I figure out how to include a photo in my posts :-)
I can now put socks on, walk up steps without stopping to rest, walk from the parking lot into work without collapsing in the elevator, wear clothes that have been in my closet for quite a while (hey, polyester NEVER goes out of style).
I still have a lot to learn about my new life, but I'm enjoying the journey. I'd do it again in a minute.

When asked if he had anything to say, he replied, "You haven't listened to anything I've had to say in the last 22 years. Why would I have anything else to say now?"

I'm only a month out, so my short range goals aren't as ambitious as rock climbing or mountain biking. Someday, I'll have those things on my list, but I'm not used to thiniking like that, yet. I am looking forward to fixing up my bike and riding around the neighborhood next spring.
I'm looking forward to:
- Taking the seat belt extender out of my car
- Wearing sox
- Wearing athletic shoes that tie instead of velcro
bunches of other stuff

Oh, and I'm getting plenty of water.... about 80 oz a day.

I just started my exercise program yesterday. It was part of the program that went with my surgery with Fresh Start. I spent an hour in the pool yesterday and will do land based exercise next week with an exercise physiologist. The program provides me with a 3 month membership at McConnell Heart Health Center, and they expect me to be there at least three times a week.

By the way, I'm still not hungry. I'm still on liquids, and am supposed to have five small "meals" a day. Sometimes I "eat" just because I'm supposed to. That's still hard for me to believe.

The only real surgical complication I had was the fact that my doc had to poke a couple of extra holes (lap) because so much of my weight is right up front. So, I'm going to have nine little scars to deal with. I haven't made up my mind whether to tell people I was attacked by a shark, or involved in a gangland shooting. Somehow, I'll make it interesting.
A couple of days later, I had an attack of shingles. For me, that means a sharp, stabbing pain in my right side that makes it difficult to take a breath. That was just bad timing. It could have been brought on by the stress of surgery. Who knows?
Anyway, I'm getting by on protein suppliments, thin cream soups, and thinned yogurt. Believe it or not, I'm not the least bit hungry. Don't get me wrong. There are still foods that sound really good to me, but I know that's head hunger. I'm down 38 pounds since the beginning of my liquid diet five days before surgery. I think that's pretty good.
Well, time for a walk, then I think I'll treat myself to a glass of V8!

Got a call this afternoon that I've been approved for surgery. Now, it's just the pre-op liquid diet, insert the vena cava filter, then off to the races. Make room on the bench, loosers! Here I come!!! (Geez, I might have to get a real avatar!)

I'm looking forward to the day when I can toss them in the trash. I don't think I'll be using them in the kitchen again!
