Topic: RE: Hey gang - just checking in
My friends I feel great! I had my surgery on September 22, 2008 and as of today I have lost 165 lbs. I could not feel better. I am living life! Prior to surgery I did the eliptical machine for a total of 4 minutes at 2 miles/hour  before I was wheezing and my chest was hurting. This morning I did the eliptical for 45 minutes at a speed of 8 miles/hour.  I have also started doing some running when it isn't too cold. This is the best decision I have ever made in my life!

The men on this forum have been a constant source of motivation and encouragement and I want to say a huge thanks to you all!.

Topic: RE: Results of Unofficial Locker Room Vitamin Survey
Ok, my question is this. I am taking Flintstones (I will get something else after I finish the bottle). It says I need one tablet for an adult, BUT if I get about 50% malabsorption should I be taking 2 of the Flintstones? I have also upped my B12 to 1000mg instead of 500.

Topic: RE: What's you daily vitamin routine like?
I don't like my vitamin routine - but it is what my nut tells me to take:

AM with breakfast: 1 Flintstones, 1 sub-lingual B-12
PM with lunch and supper: 4 calcium citrates with vit. D - a total of 1200mg calcium

Thats it!

Topic: RE: Some new holes in my belt!

Happy to tell everyone I just had to punch a couple of new holes in my belt. I have had a few instances of my pants dropping as I walked. Great feeling. I am 70 lighter than I was 2 weeks prior to my surgery.

On a different note... I am still having problems with general fatigue and dizziness. I have no ambition to exercise and just want to sleep. I am 3 weeks out of surgery.  I am unable to work a full day due to the fatigue. I have seen my surgeon several times because I started fainting. All of my lab work looked great. I am not diabetic nor do I have any blood pressure problems. My doctor told me I was not eating enough. I am trying to eat but I truely have no concept of what being full is. I fear eating too much and stretching out my pouch.

I am eating 3 meals consisting of about 4 oz. of food and 3 protein drinks. Is this normal to feel this way?

Wait a minute - gain an inch for every 25 lbs. I am going to need a cart to carry my johnson behind me. I assume it appears to get longer due to fat loss. If not I better get some different underwear.

Topic: RE: Two Weeks Out and Zero Energy
I just called my surgeon. I think we found out that the problem was dehydration. I have not been doing well at drinking my water.  I was told to go to the hospital for an IV but I talked him into letting me stay home and drink the night away. If I am not feeling better tomorrow I am to go to the hospital for an IV.

Thanks for all your advice. This forum is great!

I am not diabetic nor was I on any BP meds. I was not taking any meds before or after surgery. I just had my BP checked -  it was 112/72 (which is very good). When I stand up I feel like I am going to black out and I just want to sleep.

Topic: RE: How did you choose which type of WLS to have?
The RNY and the Lap-Band were the only two surgeries offered and the only two my insurance would cover. I initially I signed on for the band. I went to the initial surgical consult and my surgeon told me I would probably have greater initial success witht the RNY and that I was at the upper weight limit for the band. I told the doctor i was going to go ahead with the band.

I started doing research on the surgeries and found out that the RNY would be a better fit for me. I had to start the whole process over. The surgeon said I made the right decision in his mind and I couldn't be happier now that it is over.

Topic: RE: Two Weeks Out and Zero Energy
Hi guys, I am two weeks out of surgery and up until this weekend I had tons of energy. I was walking 2 to 3 miles a day and feeling great. This past weekend hit and my energy crashed. I get dizzy when I stand, I have not been able to walk like I was and I feel exhausted all the time.

I am still on puree foods for another week. I take a flintstones, B12, calcium citrate. I eat about 500 calories a day (6 oz of puree food) and drink 70 grams of protein in shakes.

My weight loss is in a stall (I have read that you may hit a plateau at 2 weeks so I am not concerned about that) but has anyone else felt their energy crash like I am? Will my body adjust and will this go away? I have lost 60 lbs since 2 weeks before surgery (30 lbs before adn 30 after).

Any advice is appreciated.
