Everyone is different. I had tomato soup with protein powder mixed in on liquid stage. Could be the difference in ingredients

I did not care for spicy foods before surgery.  After surgery, I put hot sauce on most foods.  Then that went away at about a year out and I no longer like spicy.

I didn't have any restrictions on it, either.  I doubt it'd hurt your pouch.   The only thing was my sense of taste became really enhanced after surgery (sweet things tasted sweeter, spicy things tasted spicier, etc), so I couldn't tolerate as much heat as I could before surgery.  Also, keep in mind you can't drink for at least 30 minutes after eating, so that might be a consideration as well.  No more taking a big swig of milk (or whatever) after taking a bite of something too spicy....

No milk (for 30 minutes ) and no alcohol! But we'll worth the sacrifice!
