I have been doing some research, and it's going to be unavoidable for me to have either a tummy tuck or panni done. I can't afford a TT by no means, very pricey, but they will cover a panni when i'm done having babies. The pictures I find on google....some of them are horrible!!! I was wondering if people are brave enough to post a picture or just tell me whether they regret having it done?? I was almost 340lbs so i had a rather large stomach, and i dont know if it would look good to have just the panni done, not being able to get the belly button moved. Thanks to anyone in advance!

Be sure to check out the plastics surgery forum.  http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/plasticsurgery/a,messagebo ard/board_id,4861/

Everyone there is really nice and most have picts they are willing to share.  I willb e ahving a circrumfrential Lower Body lift in June.  It is all on me as my insurance won't cover plastics in any way shape or form. They even went so far as to state that in the acceptance letter for my RNY.

It was not as expensive as I thought it would be, only $16,000 and that is all inclusive.    The surgeon also had payment plans and fininacing options availble.  You may want to check around and see how much it would cost to have what you want done done.  it never hurts to know your options.

Yes, some of them look horrible... but some of them look pretty good.  It really depends on whether or not you have lost all of your excess weight (if there is no fat and it is just skin removal, it tends to look MUCH better) and how much extra skin you have above the waist (since that won't get touched). Unfortunately, all of mine are completely nude photos (and I had a TT afterward so cannot take new ones of just the panni) so they definitely won't get posted here!

I did nto regret having the panni done.  I do regret having to have a completely separate surgery to do the mons lift and then, later, having to have the TT to address the skin on the upper abdomen.  Three surgeries (plus a hernia repair) was just too much.

I definately have the little upper *roll*, so that is another bigger consideration into the TT. It's a long ways away, but I like to be informed of all my choices :) Thank you!

What you do is, get recommendations of reliable and experienced post-bariatrics reconstructive surgeons, and look at THEIR work.

Lookin' at random stuff on the internet is just a mistake.  You're bound to first find the stuff that gets the most hits, and that stuff is likely to be sensationally awful.

Good luck!

This is a picture of my panni about 6 months out.  This was taken in 2004.  At that time I had lost about 120lbs.
I have to say I have never regretted it, even after regaining 100lbs.  It did look bad when I regained the weight.  I looked deformed as my lower tummy stayed flat and the upper belly got bigger.  When I first started losing weight again the first to go was the upper belly.
Now my lower belly is nice and flat.  The upper part is still bigger and has a little loose skin, not too much.  The scars have healed pretty nicely but they are still there.  I didn't have a plastic surgeon do the work.  Insurance would only pay for a general surgeon and you can tell.  I do like the way I look in clothes.  I don't even know if I would have a tummy tuck even if I could afford it.

I had my panniculectomy done on March 3rd by a PS who is also a wound specialist and trauma surgeon  It was covered by my insurance and I am very pleased.

Friend me and you can see my before and after pics.  I am still healing and I scar very well.  The DR. even created me a new navel...I only had 1 JP drain and I have had no complications, Thank GOD!

I had very bad back pain because of my large pannus..now the pain has shifted to my shoulders and upper back so my deflated long breasts have to be reconstructed next.

The panniculectomy was a GOD SEND! and my Dr. also did muscle tightening....that I did not expect but he did and I birthed 10 kids, 3 by c-sections so my belly has been cut both ways!

If insurance pays for a panni  some PS docs will do a tt if you pay the difference in price.  It is not that much more.  The OR and anesthesia is already covered.
