Wondering what were the best things you bought prior to surgery. The things that when  you came home were really nice to have. There is so much stuff out there that I have heard people have bought then not really used as much as they had hoped. Gimme your list of must have items please!!

I'm interested in ideas as well. So far I have bought a blender bottle for my proteine powder. It seems to blend things nicely. I found it at walmart.

I am mainly worried about not having the stuff I truly need after surgery. I would hate to get home and have nothing to eat once I was there.

What an awesome topic idea!  I have had a few friends who have had gastric bypass, and they told me mini muffin tins, mini loaf pans and a food scale.   I would love to learn if there is anything else I should get!

in going with the mini ideas, I was told to use an icecube tray to freeze my pureed stuff for future use.

I need to make myself a list as well. A blender is one of the things I already plan to purchase but can't make up my mind which kind I should get. I was thinking that the handheld mini stick blender may come in more handy....anyone?

I can tell you what I wasted my money on! lol mini spoons and forks & small plates and dishes. I didnt use them at all. After surgery you dont even really want to eat, let alone take big bites so there was no need for anything "mini". Now I just have a ton of stuff sitting around like that. One thing I ended up buying a lot of were around 6 ounce tupperwares. I got the rubbermaid ones and love them. Then when I make food I put them in there and it's already portioned out. .....

*small tupperware
*blender bottle
*blender of some sort for smoothies (the shakes will get old FAST)
*a variety of protein samples (I actually put unflavored protein in all of my smoothies because I hate flavors. Then I cant tell its there and dont get that nasty smell)

I thought that might be easier to make a list :) Good luck!

Okay I am almost a year out - But I was well supplied when I had my surgery!  Here are the items I remember off the top of my head:

digital food scale
measuring cups
chewable centrum vitamins -                                           Walmart
Wellesse calcium & vitamin D3 (liquid) -                       walmart
sublingual liquid B complex (natures bounty)  -           walmart
Gas X dissolving strips
unflavored powdered protein- Syntax
Isopure zero carb protein - vanilla, choco                       vitamin shop or online drugstore.com
Tomato soup
chicken/beef broth
V-8 juice
Isopure clear protein premade drinks - no carbs - tons of protein.  Get a few flavors.  tough to get down but has the protein you need.  and heck water is tough to get down in the beginning too!
milk - what ever kind you use - or lactaid milk
miralax
some bottles for your shakes
blender
loose night shirts - cotton, or loose shorts -
lots of pillows even the small ones for car rides to hold against your stomach

The thing I was most shocked to really appreciate right after surgery was kandoo bathroom wipes. My husband brought them to me in the hospital to make things easier after going to the bathroom. It is really hard to reach around and get your nether regions clean when you have an iv, something clamped on your finger, wires everywhere AND several holes in your belly. The wipes were a godsend...and really refreshing.
