3 Hospitals Later Surgery Finally Done

It only took 3 hospitals and a myriad of doctors to finally get my ercp done in the operating room with the gi team and the bariatric surgeon.  I can only image what this blocked bile duct is going to cost.  This is the negative part of rny, no direct route down our throat through our stomach to reach the common bile duct, so big nasty lap scar into my excluded stomach for the camera and then 4 more incisions.  The duct was unblocked and tons of little tiny stones poured out and the bile started flowing freely again.  They glued me back together and finally let me eat solid food for the first time in several weeks.  Thankfully its finally over.  The scars are ugly but the pain and fact I could have died makes them slightly tolerable.

Thanks Lora,

It looks like I got shot in the stomach, with these random lap holes, I now have two belly buttons.  They didn't go through my existing moved by plastics belly button they created a new one right next door.  Now I can really tell people I am an alien.  lol

Thank goodness they finally got it taken care.

Hope you have speedy healing, especially since you had to deal with so much pre-op pain and waiting.

It only hurt when I ate.  Which if you stop doing long enough you die.  It might be the most extreme diet plan known to man.  Every time you eat go to the hospital for morphine.  lol  I am just thankful it is finally over.  My PCP is an angel and she intervened to get me into the new GI group right away after seeing my labs after I was released from the first hospital.  My poor liver.  But hopefully all should be good now because the duct has been opened so if I ever have more stones they should all just pass without me every knowing it.

Thanks

I am so glad you are better.  It sounds awful.  Hang in there.

Yeah it sucked the first hospital took the wait and see approach and it didn't work, I just ended up in another hospital in so much pain with the duct almost totally blocked.  My issue was one bigger stone lodged in place by a bunch of tiny stones behind it and no bile passing through.  Which makes eating anything other then clear liquids impossible.

Thanks!
