I was on topamax two different times. Both times after losing about 40lbs in 3 months I had to stop because my memory was going. Each time I stopped I regained the weight. It's not even a weight loss drug..but psychiatrists Rx it to their patients because one of the main side effects from the med is weight loss.

And now a short stroll down Memory Lane ....

I do miss speed.

In my youth it was legal for weight loss. (I'm old.)

Sadly, the lifestyle was unsustainable. Although the highs were quite enjoyable and the lack of appetite was much appreciated, the lack of sleep eventually wore you down.

Sigh.

Patsy, I spent the first three months of this year partying it up in a city that never sleeps. I came home the first of April weighing 14.4 pounds more than when I left -- which is the first serious regain I've faced since being sleeved almost five years ago.

I got right back down to basics -- mostly by cutting out all bread, cheese and added sugar -- specifically, I am now eating 1200 and 1300 calories a day of both plant and animal protein and LOTS of high-fiber, low-starch veggies. My goal is to have at least 100 grams of protein and keep carbs as close to 100 grams as I can. I'm also drinking lots of water again and walking 10K steps every day. And I'm back in yoga class.

In the five weeks since returning home I've lost 9.8 pounds. That leaves only 4.6 more pounds until I'm back at my maintenance weight. My goal is to be reach that by the end of May, which is only a pound a week. And I will make it!

The loveliest bit is that after a week or so back home I was back in the post-WLS groove and not craving anything other than what I was eating.

You CAN do this. You just have to start.

:)
