Payment due for a mammogram? I've never had to pay for one, except the additional 3D imaging. I thought it was part of preventative health screenings - did that change this year?

I got to be honest I thought all insurances paid for yearly mammograms. I never had one not paid for. I thought this was a national thing that they have to pick up the cost even if you have a deductible. That is how it works here in PA.

It's crazy right? I work at a startup so I don't know if it's my insurance or what. Wahhhh

The reason you are being charged for the mammogram is because they billed it as diagnostic as opposed to preventative, so it does not fall into the essential health care services that are covered without a copayment. Also, new year so it all went to your deductible. If it is just your annual, preventative mammogram screening, have them adjust the estimate/bill.
