Donna  what were your leacky sleeve symptoms?  Are you still happy with having it done.  Is there certain parts you wich you could undo.  Or things you regret?

Am I reading this right?  You had surgery 3 weeks ago and have already lost 6 lbs?  Great news.  How are you doing?  Any regrets?

Thank you for your responses.  I wish I could hear from the Lady 5 years out.  Just wondering aobut any long term problems  and if anything changes.  One more question for you all.  What happens to all the staple they put in?  Do they stay ther e or do they disolve?  Jbaby, I am new also.  If you scroll to the bottom , hit reply.

The sleeve has been performed as the first part of the DS and RNY for over 20 years for the super morbidly obese. So, it's been performed for years upon years. In addition to that aspect, partial and full gastrectomies have been performed since the 1800s for stomach cancer and ulcer patients.

As for long term data on VSG as a stand alone procedure, it is limited. I'm 28 months out, there's a couple who float around who are 4-7 years out, but they rarely post.

Long term results with ANY bariatric procedure falls back on patient compliance. Yes, DS gives the most resolution and cure for metabolic conditions, and is proven to give the longest lasting weight loss results. It's a surgery that is wonderful for some people. For me, it was not an option. Just like I'd never have RNY.

There are surgery failures in all 4 categories so do your research and choose a surgery that you can live with all the positives and negatives for the rest of your life.
