It is so hard waiting for the approval. my paperwork was submitted on 5-29-07, and i have been told they take 30 days to approve. I am with UHC, and others have said they got thier approval much quiker so I ahve been calling the company everyday. everyone has been very nice when I call, but I just want my answer. I am on pens and needles. It feels like my life is on hod untill I get my approval.

I was approved! I submitted on 7/12, approved on 7/19 Not too bad.

Hello everyone! I am a newbie to this site, and I must tell you that I am absolutely thrilled to be here. My friend Elizabeth (Lizzie) who intoduced me to this site, is my little Angel. With her help and guidance, as well as the wonderful stories I have been reading from everyone, I can't tell you how exciting this is.
I must warn everyone though.............. I am a bit of a computer dummy, so I hope I'm doing this right. LOL
My family doctor and I submitted my application for approval on 08/10/2007.

I was finally approved and my surgery date is October 30th! whoo hoo!!

I have been trying to have surgery for 3 years!! Prior to May I had no medical complications at all based on my obesity, I was 5 months into a 6 month presurgery program with Kaiser for Gastric Bypass surgery when I had to resign from my job due to my son's chronic health condition. I cannot get anyone to finance me for LapBand, and unfortunately, there are no Doctor's that will accept payment plans. Now I am attempting to gain new insurance through a Blue Cross PPO plan to see if that will qualify me, but of course I have to wait 6 months to even get referred for it and then I will most likely be denied because it was a preexisting condition. I have never been so depressed in my life and now have high blood pressure, depression and anxiety disorder and I feel helpless. I will even pay for the surgery MYSELF on a monthly payment plan, but because I have no job and not the greatest credit noone will finance me. I can't win!!! I guess there is always Lotto? :-/

I think this will be my biggest challenge! Anybody with any Aetna tips, send me an IM!!! :)

I go to the first appoitment to watch videos and explain things. The nweset an appointment with the doctor.

Insurance was submitted last week. Waiting is so hard!!! I hope to hear something this week!

im waiting for Medi Care to approve my surgery.I went through this once already with UCSD>They told me everything was good,put me on a 6 month waiting list,then called me two day before my anitial consult to tell me I was not approved.I then asked for a denial letter from my insurance company.A nurse there called me back to say "they never even ran my insurance cause they weren't taking medi care patients at THIS TIME".
im trippin.Now I have a surgion that say he will do it and im so afraid they will deny me.I cant handle hearing that again.Im sick ,I need help!

The orthopeadic surgeon refuses to do the total hip replacement until I have lost weight. I cannot walk or take care of my family due to my hip ( bone to bone). Now he has recommended lap band. If I could walk and move around I could loose weight. I am having a hard time holding on. I am in pain and very grouchy all the time.

I HAVE TO FIRST GET TO A PRIMARY DOC, SO THEY CAN TELL ME I HAVE A GREAT CHANCE AT IT OR NOT.

My request for approval was submitted to my ins. co. (aetna) by the bariatric coordinator at my surgeon's office and only took 3 wks for approval!

Got approved...surgery june 8th

Got approved offly. on 5/06/09 when they sent out the approval letter I found out last week on Monday and received the "official Letter" 05/18/09!!

Dr. Wade's staff submitted my insurance request on 5/12/09, and they called me this morning (5/20/09) to tell me I am approved for surgery!! YAY!

My paperwork was just submitted today and my approval came today in a matter of hours. However, I was wayyyy prepared for a denial and a fight! Yay!!!

Waiting game is Over!! All tests completed and approved. I'll be getting surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, CA

ughhhh! this whole time i was waiting to hear and then i called the company and they said my surgeon submitted the wrong things!

I spoke with someone at my ins co today and was told I will likely be approved and should receive official notification within 72 hours! Woohoo!!!

Thumbsup from my ins co.! I will, of course, have to jump through a few hoops, like a psych eval, but I can do that. Loser's bench, here I come!!!!

I turned in my paper work to peach state 9/25/09. 2 times denied,hoping 3 times is the charm, please pray 4 me.

Surgery was approved on 11/20/2009 after being denied on 11/05/2009 and surgery date is 12/09/2009!!!!! So excited!

I got the call from Chris at the Restart Center on Tuesday 12-28-09 that she heard from insurance that I got the approval...WOO HOO!

On March 1st, 2010....I got a call from the girls at the Doctor's office and they said, "Connie, we are going to be your NEW best friends!!!" I'm IN!!

I just got my approval today and I submitted my paper on 1/18. I'm so exciting!!!

Paper work was sent in on Tuesday morning and i got the phone call today that i said i was approved.
