Revelations

152! YIKES! I have come to realize some things. I think I tend to have a lot of these blog posts...Anyways, I have realized that since I moved into our new house last August I have gained around 10lbs. I was floating between 142-144-140. I am now at 152! This is so scary and troubling for me. I have been struggling for awhile now trying to figure out what was going on and why I couldn't seem to take control of the situation. I think there were a multitude of factors that have since changed and now I am on the right track!

1.) When my husband and I first moved into our house he bought the groceries and household things and I paid the other bills so he could pay down his debt. Not seeing how much was being spent and not really knowing how much we had I didn't feel in control of the cooking and food and always wanted to go out to eat. So we ate out a lot.

2.) Our house did not come with a dishwasher. I began to hate cooking because it inevitably had a ton of dishes to clean and put away. It was a never ending cycle and my counters were never clear, always drying dishes or dirty dishes in the sink.

Things have changed! We have pooled our money now and I have taken over paying the bills and doing the shopping. I am back into my recipe searching, meal planning mode and am so excited! I have the whole week planned. I even found a recipe for chicken that I love and I was finally able to eat a chicken breast!

Also we got a dishwasher. Oh my how that has ever changed the flow around here. It took us a few days and a few loads to get into a groove, but I LOVE my dishwasher. Never again will I ever say "No dishwasher? That's ok, we can wash them by hand for awhile." Nope, never!

I challenged my husband, mostly to help myself with my bad spending habits, that we could only have $20 each and we had to see how long we could make it last. This doesn't include necessities like gas and food or his new tire last night. The $20 is for our vices, my magazines and diet mt dew, his cigars or junk food. I think this challenge will not only save us money, but will also help my waist line!

I have been hibernating and wearing my fat clothes all winter. I am biting this in the bud though! I am going to wear my summer clothes, I will not be buying all new clothes. I will not buy larger clothes.

On the exercise front...I suck still. I am fairly active. I don't have a sedentary job and when I am home I am rarely sitting still for very long. I did though, sign up to play in a womens' hockey league this spring, 7 weeks of 1 game each week. I think I may sign up for swimming lessons also. I think being a better swimmer would help me be more comfortable and confident in the water when scuba diving.

Well that's all for now. Off to school...
