Monday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench! ~ Judy

one year post-op
on July 6, 2008 4:31 pm
Ok, so  I  am  now  officially one year  out  as  of  last  Wednesday  and  had  my  one  year  follow-up.  I  weighed  122  at  the  doctor's  office.  So  that  makes  118  pounds  gone. I  have  weighed  lower  on my  scales  in  the  morning  that's  why  my  ticker says  119  down.  I  feel  great  and  am  working  to lose  just  about  7  pounds  so  I  have  somewhat  of a  buffer  zone  there.  We  shall  see.  It  is  slow  right  now.  I  am  enjoying  being  able  to  do  things  and  wear  things  like  I  haven't  in  a  long  time.  Unfortunately  Garrett  is  leaving  this  Thursday  to  move  to  his  fathers  and  I  am  quite  sad.  It  will  probably  be  awhile  before  I  see  him  again. That's  it,  just  incredibly  sad  to  be  losing  my  baby.  I'll  be  OK  though.  I  have  survived  a  great deal  in  my  life.  I'll  be  ok  when  all  is  said  and  done.  I  just  have  to  keep  saying  that  since  my heart  is  breaking.

9 months
on March 3, 2008 4:05 am
Ok, so I am beginning my 9th month now and it has been a while since I have posted. I have lost about 96 pounds and feel much better. I am pleased with my results and would like to lose a minimum of 14 more pounds but am shooting for that total of 120 lost which means another 24 total. We shall see. I do know it has been slow here as of late. The last ones are always tough. I need to post some new pics here soon. I am quite thankful for all of my friends here on OH who have cheered me on and been here on this amazing journey.

3 and a half months out
on October 26, 2007 11:43 am
Well, it has been close to 4 months since surgery. I am feeling much better now than before. For a while I delt with a small stricture and I have been on Nexium for a few months now. This is my last month for that and hopefully I won't need it after this. I don't go back to the doctor till Jan. and then they will run labs. I see the Nut the day before Thanksgiving. My weight loss hasn't been quite as dramatic as others but I am eating properly, exercising, taking my vitamins and doing what is right. I know that in the long run I will get where I need to be. To goal weight! Surgery has been good for me. It is no easy road but well worth it.

2 months out
on September 7, 2007 5:21 am
Ok, so I am a little over 2 months on this journey and I have lost nearly 35 pounds. I am a slow loser in some ways, but as long as it comes off I will be pleased with the results. I feel like my body has changed. I have had some issues with food, but hopefully that will all go away. The surgery has been a good thing.

OK, so only a few more days until surgery. I am both nervous and excited. I am ready to begin the journey and begin my life.

My Story

OK. So my story is probably quite similar to everyone else on here. I have been overweight the majority of my adult life. I can lose weight but never seem to successfully keep it off. I am ready for a new beginning and want to finally shed and keep this weight off of me. I want to get rid of the potential health issues that I WILL face oneday if I don't loose this weight. My mother was morbidly obese and died at age 54 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. I saw her struggle from weight issues all of her life and I want to be healthy and happy.  I am the mother of two kids. My daughter is 17 and my son is 13. I want, as we all do, to be around for them.
